If you keep looking at the comments of people on this board who actually own one and have shot them, I think you will get your answer.

I think it is probably the most underrated 9mm made. Maybe even the most underrated semiauto pistol.

They're easy to shoot, maintain and mine has gone bang every time I have pulled the trigger. Plus, as the original owner, you have the backing of one of the largest gun manufacturers in the world.

Let that guy shoot a few rounds next time you see him. Oh, and happy shooting!

jon you will find a lot of haters, don't let it get you down. The Sigma is a really good gun at a great price. Is it the best out there? No it isn't. Their are people here that have put 10's of thousands of rounds though the Sigma with no problem. Few have had some broken parts like strikers, ejectors. These things happen, not just on Sigmas. It can happen with any gun you buy.

If you see that guy again ask him how many Sigmas he has owned, and what was wrong with it. I'll bet he hasn't owned one or if he did he or a previous owner messed it up.

Bottom line ENJOY your Sigma. Shoot the mess out of it. You certainly didn't over pay for it. If something does break there are a lot of helpful and knowledgeable people on this forum that can help you.

I've never heard of a sigma actually "failing". Everyone else has said what I was gonna say, so listen to them...

Bet that guy has never held/shot a Sigma. He just parrots what a "block shooter" told him. The Sigma is what it is, a value price goto pistol for SD/HD SHTF truck gun. It has a trigger made for CCW next to your johnson in condition one without an external safety. Keep mine GTG 24/7.

Unfortunately ignorance runs rampant in a lot of gun shops and ranges. The SW9VE is on the best selling handguns in America and there's a reason for it. They are good reliable guns backed by an American company who cares about customer service. I have several guns I like better than my Sigma, but most of them cost 2-3x as much. I own an SW9E and used to have an SW9VE (which is now my Brother-in-laws). Both are rock solid reliable guns and with many thousand rounds down range neither has had a single issue with durability.

I just bought a Sigma 9ve and that's after lots of reviews, Youtube demos and comparing guns in the same price bracket. The Sigma came out smelling like a rose and backed up by a well known maker.

Of course there are better guns and higher prices but the Sigma ain't no junk. It's too well made and because of that a great value.

It was love at first shot.

EDIT: by the way, there a fella here who had 10K+ through his. That speaks volumes.

I think all the negative blah blah comes from the pro Austrian and 1911 crowd.

It's all about the right tool for the job. If you need a pickaxe you don't use a claw hammer.

No. It doesn't have a 3 lb single action trigger. No. It doesn't have built in radar. No. It doesn't have 3 safeties, ambidextrious mag release, fish scales ect.

Then go out and drop $2000 on a custom 1911 and be happy.

It is, a dependable defensive pistol. With decent sights, great ergonomics, double action only reliable carry weapon.

The last time I took mine to the range, the crew of guys with the Austrian guns couldn't hit a barn if they were standing inside of it. Low, high, left, right you name it they were hitting everything but the targets.

There is no magic gun out there. You have to do your part. My Sigma hits everything I put the front sight on. Without fail. Do I care about shooting 1 inch groups at 25 yards with it? No.
Nor do I expect it to, during defensive shooting drills.

Sorry guys, I tend to get annoyed when the equipment gets blamed for operator error.

Off the soapbox.....

Time for my regular post.

The S&W 9VE is an unabashed clone of the Glock, with some improvements. It was designed to a price and to replace the Base Model 10 when Security Guards were authorized Semi-autos instead of the classic .38 Special revolver.

Think of it as the Model 10, only with 17 rounds of high velocity ammo.

My wife annexed mine for Home Defense, leaving me with my Ruger SP-101 in .22LR which was her previous choice. I like the fact she has 16 rounds of 125 gr HPs at 1100 fps, rather than 6 rounds of 36 gr HPs at 1100 fps.

Who makes do with a shotgun and a SWaMPy 9c with long mags and the grip extension.

The same thing has happend to me many times at the range I start talking to some guy and he asks how do you like that *** Sigma? I always say I love this *** Sigma!

Me and a friend bought our Sigma's a few years ago and both have run flawless. Mine is well taken care of and his is not and they both go bang every time. I have other pistols a nice 1911 and a accurized S&W 5906 but I prefer to shoot my Sigma SW9VE I know it sounds crazy but its true.

I was a sceptic before I purchased mine but then I talked to a good friend of mine who owns a local gunshop and sells Sigma's by the truckload and has few come back. So I say shoot the heck out of that thing and give us an update at say the 10,000 round count and let us know what you think.

Sigmas failing? I don't own a sigma and I've never shot one. I've only handled one in the store. With that being said, here is my take on what I've heard and read. The Sigma is a tank with a poor trigger. But the poor trigger was designed that way, to mimic the pull of a double action revolver so the term poor trigger isn't quite right. Neither is calling it a cheap gun. Cheap insinuates an inferior product. I'd call it an entry model or... economy gun??? Sure, you don't get all of the fancy extras such as reversible mag release, if you did the gun would be more expensive.

What I don't hear is questionable reliability. I'm guessing the guy at the range heard from a friend who heard from a guy, and so on, (probably started by some Glock snob) and he's just spouting back misinformation.

They sell a boat load of Sigmas. I doubt Sigmas would be as popular if they weren't reliable guns. I have nothing against Glocks and maybe some Glock owners are irritated that the Sigma is a total rip off of their gun's design and it costs much less, but I have to say that a lot of Glock owners are a snobby bunch. Take what they say with a grain of salt.

He was a glock owner. You will find them everywhere. ALL glock owners will say whatever comes to the top of their petty little head to put down anyone that does not own a glock. Next time you are going to the range, keep a box of 50 - 100 +p+ rounds with you. When someone says to you what this dope said ask them if they have a Glock. Then tell them you were thinking of buying a glock until you found out they would explode if you fired "these" rounds. If they have any common sense they will shut their mouth, if not ask them if they would fire the box of ammo for you to prove that Glock makes a quality gun. After they loose a couple of fingers when their Glock explodes they will take a differnt approach to how they indirectly insult people. Most of the time they just pout and walk away with their nose held high like someone just offerd them a burger at a 5 star resturant.
Its the funniest thing.

I have over 20,400 rounds thru my Sigma 40ve and not one failure, or one broken ejector or anything else Glock Owners say will go wrong with my little piece of garbage 40ve. LOL.

Terrible gun-only thing good I can say about it is that it's better than a hi point. Never owned one, never shot one, never seen one shot, never held one but I know what I've read on the internet and it is a crappy gun.

just trying to add a little balance to this discussion.
:D

Its not better than a hi-point chief. I own Hi-points, they are great guns and a great warranty on them. if you don't owm a Hi-point or ever shot one, you don't know what you are talking about.

Three weeks and every other day shooting and no problems. Bride and son love it, though bride is getting used to her new .38 Special revolver (her preferred mode of firepower is a revolver, go figure)

Let's see..."never owned one, never shot one, never saw one shot..." soooo...all he's done is listened to other's opinions and read stuff on the internet. Since getting into this CCW/gun thing, I've researched both pistols I carry. I won't get anything, ie, vehicle, gun, refrigerator, etc, without researching, internet and otherwise. Thing is, I haven't seen many reviews/discussions on the internet that were negative. The early models apparently had issues, but (pardon my blasphemy) if I'm not mistaken, Taurus used to have a horrible reputation. Nowadays, don't read much negative about them. The above guy's reply is like saying you've never driven a (Dodge/Chevy/Ford), never seen anyone driving one, never been in one, but, wait, you heard on the internet they were terrible. Your loss, our gain!

Apparently some folks missed the little green face. I'm a noob here, but I know who the court jesters are.;)
