I liked the 158 gr lead bullet in my K frames.

You can load them at light target speed or up to a 38 +P loading
and have fun and not worry about working the gun loose or have
undo wear or stress on parts.

In the 357 case it can also work in the field for medium size game, if needed.

However some like to have 19 different types of bullets to play around with.

My favorite load for years has been 13.5 grains of Hercules 2400 behind a 160 grain lead or jacketed soft point. Gets the job done and is easy on the gun (and shooter).

When I started hand loading, I used Unique for most of my cast lead projectiles. A few decades ago, I switched to 231. The 231 produces less smoke when burning the bullet lube.

My favorite plinking load is a 158 grain hard cast SWC over 5.5 grains of 231

H110 has been my goto Full Power Magnum powder since the 70s. Back then it was a fairly NEW powder on the market

My favorite jacketed load is a IMI 125 JSP over 21.6 grains of H110

These have both been shot in everything from J-frames to lever guns.

The jacketed load always makes an impression when fired from one of the 2 1/2" Model 19/66s

No matter what the power level, I alwasy load ammunition that I intend to shoot in 357 Magnum firearms, into 357 Magnum casings
