K38 Target Masterpiece

The standard trigger for Model 14 should be .265" wide and serrated. Check yours out to make sure if it is original or not. Also, the stocks could well be period correct for your K38. Those were the new style of the Masterpiece standard non-diamond stocks, since the Diamond Magnas were dropped right around the time your gun was made. Also, many target guns were ordered with optional checkered target stocks.

Yeah they are period correct but with the writing on the inside I feel they aren't the ones the gun came with from the factory. I am looking into some sort of target grips as I need something bigger for my hands.

And the trigger is a serrated trigger, probably .265, I am still gonna swap a target trigger into it.

My very first S&W K22 masterpiece 6" as it says on the end of the gold box with cleaning rod and screwdriver it came with.
My second k frame find is the S&W k38 combat masterpiece with 4" barrel.
My third find is the K38 Target masterpiece with 6" barrel.
I was a green horn noobie and bought them because the name sounded good and locally I never seen them. These are s&w quality revolvers that capture that time and era of the s&w craftsmanship that's still going on today.

K38 Target masterpiece
Just an FYI: Despite what is written in the SCSW, the company never called the K-38 this. It was known only as the K-38 Masterpiece. "Target" was never part of its name.
Jack

BTW - for a "green horn noobie" you picked up three fine revolvers! Good for you.

I agree that the 'Masterpiece' part is true it was amazing how smooth the inside of the reciever was compared to all my other revolvers. Smooth and the mill marks were hard to see.
