Lets see those grips guys.

Great looking grips and wonderful photo's. I have some Ahrends cocobolo finger grove grips ordered for several of my S&W's and now I can't wait for them to come in.

Only guns I have right now with custiom grips are these:

After looking at the photos in this thread I've come to the conclusion that my 3 mega pixel easyshare kodak is going to get the pink slip.

Any way ..here my 19 with some stags..sambar stag... or something like that

Guys,

I've committed sacrilege. In the very second post of this thread I stated "shoot them the way God intended" referring to the use of factory stocks.

In a moment of curiousity, I put the Uncle Mike's rubber panels that came on my 65-2 from CDNN back on. I couldn't believe how well the revolver pointed and felt in my hand. I then received my replacement duty-holster, the original returned for the lining coming away from the holster-body within two months of light use. Upon practicing with it I was amazed how much easier the gun came out (although I really think my original holster was molded wrong as the difference is night and day.)

So, I guess I'm a hypocrite although I still PREFER the originals in the looks department.

Here's a shot of the new "retro-day" set-up:

My S&Ws mostly wear factory grips, but some others in my accumulation are properly dressed. My poor phography does no justice to these, particularly to Cary's fine grips on the Rugers.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with rubber grips if they fit your hand better. I have bought many sets of grips trying to find a pair that fit just right. You find a pair that you think you will like until you shoot the gun. I finally settled on Ahrends square butt smooth and love them.

I've got some Ahrends grips on order but they are not here yet Some good looking factory wood though on a few of my aquistions.

WOW! You guys just keep showing some great stocks. I would really like too get some Herrets for my model 10. I just don't know which one to get. I have Ahrends square butt smooth on it right now, but they are just a little too narrow. I have had target stocks on the gun, but there too wide.any advice from the experts here would be great.

I just put sets of Ahrends Cocobolo finger grips on three of my S&W today. The guns are a Model 10-2, Model 67 no dash, and a Model 686 no dash.

Lots of nice looking wood in this thread!
TexNekkid, Tell us more about your Roper stocks. How long have you owned them and what if any story to go along with the gun, and if your able sometime how about a picture of the inside of both panels, especially around the area that butts up to the back of the trigger guard. It's a pretty rare style and I've wondered how certain features were made on them. It's a very looking cool DS, I'll bet King didn't do many of them.

Thanks,
Keith

A set of old K-frame jigged bone grips carved to imitate stag. I'm selling these on Ebay if interested.

I've also ordered a set of the Ahrends retro Stocks for another one of my K frames.

How does the Ahrend retro targets compare with the regular non-finger groove grips? Looks like the regular grips appear a little longer in the toe/heel. My understanding is that the Ahrends are narrower than regular S&W K/N frame targets. I have regular S&W targets or magnas on my Smiths. By-and-large, the feel of the grips are wanting. I have a set of Pau Ferro Hogues on a Ruger Police Service Six that feel great but the Hogues don't have that "traditional" S&W look. Great handling grips though!

I can't tell you yet because the two sets of retro target grips I ordered from Ahrends haven't come in yet. They state on their website that the retro's are thinner then the non finger grip regular grips. The finger groove and the non finger groove grips also have a rounded bottom contour where the retro target grips have a flat bottom.

The Ahrends Retro Target Grips on my M15 are round to square butt and are noticeably thinner and more comfortable than the stock S&W Target grips.

Here are two grips that i traded, unfortunatly way to big for my small hands.

Wow this thread has turned out great! We have a fine assembly of grips not to mention the guns. Thanks for posting the gun porn.

Oops, should have posted in this thread instead of starting a new one. Images deleted there, reposted here:
