Lever gun? Really?

This is a gun industry created niche IMO. Outside of some enthusiasts with deep pockets who also want to spring for a big bore suppressor, I've never seen one in use out in the wild. Not sure about .44 Magnum, but there are some cool subsonic .45/70 loadings, and if you can tolerate a suppressor the size of a spray paint can, they can be really quiet.

I'm pushing 70 and like blue steel and black walnut. But, having dropped a classic double in the river and watched it sink into the muck, I now hunt ducks with a modern gun--plastic stock and cerakote finish. There is something to be said for pure functionality and practicality as its own form of beauty.

Hot water and elbow grease would be called for after dunking in the muck.

I don't care for the Plastic Erector Set look at all, no matter what gun they slap together with it.
The author seems more excited about how 'cool' the thing looks to other people and if that they'll drool with expressive delight as .." These parts gave the Henry a new look—one that usually makes people go “oohhhh” and “ahhhh.”.

Well that's what he see's & it's his money.
Hopefully it'll keep the gun business afloat but classic it sure ain't.

People revolted when the Percussion Lock came to be just as they did when those damn steel bbls threatened to take the place of their lovely damascus bbls.
But neither of those changes made an immediate switch in the overall class of the firearms they were used on. A classic built SxS was still just that. A well designed and made BP rifle the same.
But this TinkerToy assemblage stuff is way different.

Someone buys it, so someone likes it!

That’s a Rossi R-95 (.30-30) dressed up (down?) in Ranger Point Precision furniture. That articulating stock is great for getting a good cheek weld even with an optic that’s too high for a lever action. Why did I do it? To entertain myself and annoy the purists on the MarlinOwners forum. It’s really fun to shoot, but I wouldn’t change the forend if I did it over again.

Interestingly enough, I just read an article that Arkansas is joining the straight-walled cartridge movement during muzzle-loader season.

You can now use any straight-walled, non-shotgun, cartridge of .30 caliber or above during the lengthy muzzle loader season. I knew I should have never sold my .444 Marlin years ago!

This will be a boon to lever gun sales here in the state. One can also use handguns shooting straight-walled cartridges of .30 plus caliber.

If the 45-70 was good enough for Buffalo Bill it's good enough for me!

I don't live in one of those states, but my Ruger American in .450BM would be my go-to if I did. Lighter, less complex, cheaper, and easier to load/unload.

.444 Marlin would be a fun one though. I think I would try and hunt down a .375 Winchester if I had to use a lever. Browning makes the BLR in .450BM I believe, so there's that too.

Hate to tell ya, but most people who buy guns, hardly shoot them, if at all. They mostly sit at home in the box, case or safe.

You'd be surprised how well these awful-looking tacti-ninja lever guns sell. My LGS can't stock them fast enough. There's a large market segment for them, since those folks are awash in ARs they will never shoot. The buyers of these homely mutts think they're cool. They bring them to the range once or twice a year, fire 2 boxes of ammo, and put them away.
