I see many post about shop in certain locations that a few members either visit frequent or that are popular. Does anybody live in the Orlando fl area and would recommend some good gun shops....? Lol

Shoot Straight in Apopka. They have the best prices that I have seen in the area. Counter service is not always the best.

Have used Als near downtown for FFL transfers. Bass Outdoor has been full retail every time I have been in there plus you have to take a number to even talk to someone. Gander Mountain falls somewhere in the middle.

I have tried to find a smaller shop to call home but no luck so far.

Cool I recently just moved in the area last year. I've googled some but wanted to know if anyone had experience with some spots. I purchased my shield at the gun show from shoot str8 in Orlando. Here ammo and guns are impossible to get, I waited last Friday at bass pro before they opened and I was able to pick up a few boxes of 9mm. Their trucks comes around 4am and if ammo is on the shipment it's out on rack before the store opens.

Yea, same thing I am seeing. Will try the Bass trick if I am over that way one morning.

Scored an M&P15 from Shoot Straight at the last show. They had only marked it up to retail price, so I was thrilled. Saw the same model for $800 more on the other side of the room after I bought mine. Crazy times.

IF you can find a good "Mom & Pop" LGS,that's the way to go. I try to stay away from the big box stores when I can. The big box won't hagle over prices like a good "Mom & Pop" will. If I have to take a number,I walk. :D

That's what I'm saying! Just looking to hustle a bit, not be hustled :)

East Orange shooting sports in Winter Park, or The Gun Vault which is near Fairbanks and I-4.

Yea I have shoot at east-orange before, the prices are fair there, in terms of the range etc. Are they flexible on firearm prices?

Absolutely right! I just found a new "Mom & Pop" shop about 5 minutes from me. They're a touch more expensive across the board...but thats ok with me. We need to support these shops.

I agree in theory. My problem is the LGS's I have tried to deal with can't get passed the pawn shop mentality. Listed prices are extremely high to take advantage of the uneducated buyer. Limited inventory and no willingness to special order. Ammo marked way up. I won't give up trying to find some good ones, but from what I have seen it is easier said then done!

I'm actually not sure I've never bought a firearm from there. I've only used their range, and bought cleaning supplies and stuff.

Yes we do or the "big box" will eat us alive.

Once they get to know you,"Mom & Pop" are the ones that will work with you and you'll end up ahead in the long run. :D I love hearing "Thought you might like one of these" or "We'll see what we can do" and a "I got what you were looking for" call.

Yes, I like working with people who can negotiate :). It's like speaking proper grammer lol.

I have worked for both Shoot straight, & a small LGS. While the LGS had a cozy atmosphere, their inventory was one of each gun. So if you bought a gun from them, you got the display model which was fingered by who knows how many people. When someone bought a gun from me at Shoot Straight, I'd go to the stock room, & choose from at least 10 guns of each model to give the customer the most recent ser#. The same guns also ran about $50 less at Shoot Straight. GARY

There is also Florida Gun Exchange if you feel like driving out to the Daytona area. Great selection most of the time and they are high enough volume that they can keep getting stock in while others are high and dry.

i check out a string of gun and pawn shops on the east coast from daytona to melbourne.........jump on the harley for a ride and check them out......the thing is ,you can go in anyone of them on a given day and look at the guns and say to yourself they must be nuts on there gun prices...........but then for no reason there will be a super bargain on a gun ....and that's what your looking for. always check out the consignment guns, they seem to have alot of wiggle room.

Popped into Shoot-Straight in Friday. They had a few dozen of M&P15s, a stack of M&P15-22s and plenty of shield 40s. Checked out a Ruger LCP and Bodyguard .380 while I was there too. Wanted to see a Sig P238 but none in stock. All ARs were full retail price.
