Longmire Question

Hi:
I watch the TV series "Longmire" off and on.
The young Deputy "Ferg" is the only member of the three deputies that has a complete uniform but carries a S&W "N Frame Revolver in a nylon web holster minus gun belt, cuffs, or extra ammo ? Anyone know the caliber of "Ferg's" service revolver ?
