I've browsed a ton of websites viewing various range bags, but thought I'd ask for your opinions.

I'd like it to be small. Carry two handguns, couple mags, a few boxes of ammo, ears and eyes. I already own this one. And while it does the job, it's obviously very cheap and low quality. I'd like one that I wouldn't mind giving someone as a gift. Does anyone know of a similar bag, but made of leather? The only leather ones I've seen are pretty large and for clay shooting. Or does anyone know one that is no larger than the one I have, but much higher quality?

It isn't that small, but I've had a Dillon range bag for years and have been pleased with it.

I'm rather partial to the various tool carrier bags sold at hardware and big box home improvment stores. They're made heavy enough to carry various carpenter's tools, have smaller pockets inside that are handy for earplugs etc., zip closed and don't announce "GUN!!!" to anybody that sees it.

Might want to look at the Bagmaster brand. But they do get a bit pricey in leather.

I know you said small but you just can't beat the Midway Range Bag when it's on sale. It does have a smaller bag inside. If that is too big then the compact one mentioned would be perfect.

For $10 more the full size is a lot more bag.

I carry lots and lots of stuff to the range. I can leave the big bag in the back of the car and use the inside ammo bag to carry lots of ammo and a few guns

Our range is a long way from home and out in the woods, so I have tools, targets, first aid, water etc in the big bag. The two gun cases/rugs are great each can hold at least two guns usually three.

I use an old laptop bag, can't beat all the pockets and such. I fasten two cheap holsters to the strap that originally held the laptop in, four boxes of ammo fit perfect in the area the power supply was, I keep a military cleaning kit with assorted extras in it, and a large clasp envelope of targets in one of the pouches. I find that two pistols and my earmuffs fit perfectly in the largest part.

It's not the fanciest, but I just bought a winchester range bag that fits your description for about $20usd at Wallyworld.

Cheaper Than Dirt sells a "Bug-Out Bag" that I like for about $20. I have 3for different rifles and gave a couple to my kids. I think the actual maker is an outfit called Condor, and the quality is excellent.

I've got a large Uncle Mike's that is good quality, and versatile. However, after seeing that Midway competition range bag, I'm thinking Santa is going to have another item to pack up for me...

Any Target, Sports Authority or Dick's usually sells a "Gym Bag", equipment bag, or similar at a good price. Any bag that you buy specifically called a "gun bag" is usually nothing more than a high priced Gym Bag.

I have the wooden box that the NRA sells. Pretty large and heavy, but has ltos of space. Be warned: don't get one too big. Junk expands to fill available space, and I can't believe the junk stuffed in it now.

Make one to suit your needs. I did and it works fine.

I began with an aluminum double sided case used for cameras. Had a lady attach some straps that holds four handguns. Made some cuts in the material on the other side to hold plastic ammo boxes that hold 100 rnds each. Used the slots for lenses as holders for ear protection.
