For all you revolver enthusiasts that think that the revolver is as good or even better than the Semi Automatic, you need to get with the program. If this NYPD cop had had Glock .40S&W with three high capacity magazines with night sights, laser scope he would have survived this shooting to tell the story today instead of having to have it demonstrated on this news footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAMGtJLNy4s (warning: this is a horrible death)

I guess I should get rid of the model 10 I got today. Phew, thanks for letting us wheel gun guys know!

Another example of 158gr LRN failure. Now if he'd been shootin' +P's....
oh hell...you can't shoot +P's in an old gun.
I read that on an internet forum.

He shoulda' had a .45.

Boy that really puts a bites. His problem was he didn't aim, the proof is in the second shot richocet. If he had aimed properly he would have put it's eye out and the beast would have been in line for national health care, a long long line.

Yep pre-1957 or not, this was definitely a +P moment. Maybe even .38-44 metal piercing.

packing all my old revolvers up now to trash..wow!i'll start checking out those plastic guns now....dang!the 500 magnum will not fit the trash can!

His primary downfall involved taking his eyes off the target to check the cylinder. His tunnel vision fixation afforded him no time for maintaining proximity reconnaissance allowing him to immediately fall victim to the perimeter breech.

He should have emptied the six rounds briskly into center mass and then retreated diagonally from the thoroughfare towards cover while ejecting the spent cartridges and reloading by feel.

He took his eyes off the adversary and lost his head...

HA HA! And I suppose the Glock would of been better. After shooting three high capacity magazines the cop would still have been a appetizer for the big bad monster.

Well, the Model 10 IS outmoded. The stainless version, Model 64, is a better deal if yo really carry the gun a lot. :D

If I was that hungry, a .38 wouldn't stop me either:D

But the NYPD would have to vastly improve their hit percentage rate. A 10% rate just won't get it.

The policeman only fired 5 shots...maybe the sixth would have done the job? or maybe these ladies could have helped...!

Now repeat this three times and click your heel's, it's not the gun, it's the shooter.

Firepower is not a semi auto with four spare mags. Firepower is hitting your target with the first second and third shots if required, from a revolver or semi auto, whichever you feel most comfortable with and are able to handle under extreme pressure well without losing your head. Keeping cool is the discipline. Which takes alot of training and discipline. Most do not or have not had that kind of weapons training/discipline. Not even your modern serving cop.Covert and special operations military training is another kettle of fish. Their training is superb, but even they die in a moment of concentration lapse. One bullet is all it takes.

Someone once said I'd rather be missed by a 45 than hit with a 22. True words.

What's a "laser scope"? I want one!!! Nay, I NEED one...and one that fits in a duty holster!

(Nice flash to the past!) One interesting point that the film maker probably never even thought about. The officer stood his ground, even though the odds were, shall we say, stacked against him. Futile or not, he went down a hero.
