I thought the whole point of putting a brightly colored tip on a toy gun was to help the police differentiate between a toy & the real deal. I can't imagine having such a tip on a rifle and would think the police would not appreciate that.

To help prevent the dangers posed by toy guns, federal law requires fake guns to be transparent, brightly colored, or have a bright orange tip at the end of the barrel.

Its amazing how one minor change can make this fearsome "weapon of mass destruction" look like a toy.

Maybe that's all we need to do to make these anti-gun nuts go away:D Not serious of course...Jim (above) has an excellent point.

Both the SBR and Suppressor took 6 months to the day door to door. This was 6 months ago. From what I understand, times are about the same at the moment. Im about to send off for a few more stamps. Sure is addicting. :D

It is a barrel plug to keep debris out of the barrel. It is bright so you can see it is still there. It isn't hi vis orange, which the toy guns have to be.

Just my opinion, but I think doing so is a really bad idea. The bright orange tip, hi vis or not, implies a toy. An AR is not a toy.

I vote for lavender. :D

That said, I have never seen anyone cover a barrel with anything other than a balloon or a condom. You can shoot through either one without affecting anything.

The laws state high vis orange. If it isn't high vis orange what difference does it make if it is another easy to see colour.

AR's also aren't designed to be taken to airsoft fields and used like a toy, so what difference does the colour make on a range?

Majorlk, you can shoot through these. A .22 might not do it properly, but a 5.56mm's muzzle blast will open up the flash hider properly.

What difference? The nationwide law was established to help prevent law enforcement from accidentally shooting kids holding toy guns. In the old days, some toy guns were exact replicas of actual firearms & too many children were shot. They generally were shot in low light conditions where it was hard to determine if the officer was at risk. In such a low visibility environment you really want these officers to make a snap judgement about what shade of bright orange cap is on a gun?

In my opinion, if you are crawling thru swamps & really need such a barrel cap, paint the danged thing black. If others did something like this, putting bright orange caps on real guns, the whole intent of the law would be nullified. How could police know what type of gun they were looking at?

It is a muzzle dust cover over the flash hider used when the gun is stored. When going to the range it is removed prior to packing it in my transfer case.

I went brute force with it. My telestock was pinned, but I removed the pin with a 5/64" drill bit. The bit tapped the pin, and then I just let it spin for a while. Then I backed the drill out and the pin came with it.

Then I used a sawzall with 12" and 6" metal cutting blades to cut out the base of the tube inside the A2 stock the stock slides over the receiver extension. This made a notch for the rib at the base of the receiver extension.

The fit between the stock and receiver extension is extremely tight, and I had a difficult time sliding the stock on. I put some slip 2000 on the receiver extension, and I still had a very difficult time getting the stock on there. It is so tight that I don't think I could get it off without cutting it. So the only thing holding it on is friction.

I just put about 175 rounds through it, and the stock did not move at all. It is rock solid.

The bottom of the stock does not mate perfectly with the receiver, but I can live with it.

One day I may remove the A2 (probably by cutting it) and then replacing it with a cavalry arms A1 stock.
