M&P 15-22 Results, Post 'em here. I got Mine!!

I picked one up yesterday after reading all the good reviews. This morning cleaned the 22 and took it out to the range, fired about 300 rounds. Had a couple of FTF during that time and then it wouldn't feed anything. Started looking at it and it just didn't look right. That little feed ramp was gone. Looks like it broke off, nothing there to feed bullet into bore. I'll call CS in the morning. At least I know S&W will make it right.

I called S&W yesterday on my broken feedramp problem. They're going to send me shipping labels and i'll send it off for repair. The guy told he hasn't heard of that problem yet so we'll see what happens.

Hope S&W gets your rifle fixed soon. Also hope that the broken feed ramp is an isolated incident.

Curious, does S&W snail mail the shipping labels or do they email them to you?

S&W told me once they have about a 8 day turnaround once they get a gun. Thats what they told me when i called regarding mine, so there saying by end of week, which Friday will be 8 days, i should be getting mine very sooon hopefully. I was told by somebody they send them back express, cause they dont like firearms riding around in trucks for a week, like ground service. Like to get people there guns back quickly.

Had same problem(s)...has got to be OE (Operator Error)!

I experienced the very same problems as TxShooter2k9...the same day of purchase. No cleaning prior to shooting. After getting home and reading the owner's manual, I realized that I had loaded the magazine depressing only one side of the load assist button, ever so slightly cocking the piece in between that "arranges" the bullets. I re-loaded the magazine and saw a perfect offset pattern of rounds inside. I am not 100%, but am fairly certain, that this is what caused my trouble (and perhaps that of TxShooter2k9). I was only able to make it through 2 magazines worth of 40gr CCI Mini-Mag round point ammo before giving up. I live 45 mins. from an indoor range/retail store and 1 hr. from a free outdoor range, so my troubleshooting will have to wait...thanks for reading. BTW I am new this forum, but frequently visit mp-pistol.com and was born and raised in Springfield, Ma. L8R.

Welcome Hubie.40. This is a good forum -- lots of relevant info and tips. I've got several S&W firearms in my collection and am very pleased with all of them. I noticed the mag-loading sequence on my first mag at the range, and have never had a singe problem -- regardless of ammo brand or type.

Maybe for ya'll wiht more 15-22 mag loading experience, help me out, and tell me how you go about it, i know it says do 1 at a time, other than, thats what i did, besides just trying to pack em good, but hitting the mag with the palm of my hand. Just want a good idea, so when i get my gun back, i do it perfectly right.

So, im guessing your still having jamming issues?

TxShooter -- I use the same approach to loading the mag as I do on my Ruger Mk-II:

1) I pull down slightly on the follower guide to insert one round butt-first
2) I release the spring pressure slightly to seat the round properly
3) I pull down again slightly to load the next round, continually repeating these steps until the mag is full

While this may sound nit-picking or painstaking, it's actually quite simple and becomes 2nd nature to you once you do it a few times. A quick, sloppy, asymmetrically-stacked mag will jam. Taking just a little time to do this should result in error-free shooting.

Not to get off topic, but I just picked one up at the local gun shop to rid the yard of critters (and play too). Would a laser or scope work better for critters at under 150'?

Thanks!

be easier and more accurate i would think..Im interested in a Scope for mine, looking at the Vortex Strikefire reddot, i would also like a laser, but havent found one that looks good enough for my gun. They all look cheap.

That's a big affirmative, Vincentc77. I put a Leupold prismatic on mine and am shooting really tight groups at 100', even with Federal bulk ammo. Magnification can be fine, but then you have to take it off for close range work. With a 1x sight, and the etched reticle of Leupold that can either be illuminated or not, I've found this setup to work well for me.

Joined the club today. Mine has a serial number DTExxxx. Assuming they began with DTA0001, and didn't skip any, by the time they got to DTE004 they have made 40,000 of them!

called S&W today, cause they told me earlier in the week, they had a 8 day turnaround, and should be fineshed by end of week, so i called today to check on it, they said it was still being 'analyzed'. So who knows.

Sure it was me. Range this weekend HOPEFULLY. OT at work ($) may preclude this...After initial range visit no chance to shoot (city limits, even in GA.), but watching this thread. Have 3 more magazines coming from S&W, so this better work next time...

Mine is being shipped to my FFL dealer this week. I hope it gets there by Thursday or I am going to be waiting over the following weekend because I work all day on Friday.

May have to try to switch the schedule around a bit :D
