M&P 15-22 Results, Post 'em here. I got Mine!!

I picked one up yesterday after reading all the good reviews. This morning cleaned the 22 and took it out to the range, fired about 300 rounds. Had a couple of FTF during that time and then it wouldn't feed anything. Started looking at it and it just didn't look right. That little feed ramp was gone. Looks like it broke off, nothing there to feed bullet into bore. I'll call CS in the morning. At least I know S&W will make it right.

I picked mine up this past Friday. Accuracy is fantastic and the look and feel is great considering it is all polymer. I have taken it to the range twice and have put about 500 rounds through it. I haven't been able to fire a full magazine without a jam. Like others on here, the issue has been that the expended brass gets stuck between the bolt and the ejector. I have been loading one at a time and have tried low grade ammo to competition grade; nothing works. I just finished giving it a deep clean and a proper oil. I will update after I take it to the range again. I certainly do not want to send it back to S&W, so that is a last resort.

i didnt want to send mine back either. Looks like ive seen more and more of the jamming issues coming up latly.

makes me real nervous getting my gun back, Hopefully, its fixed, and i never see the issue again, if i do, im gonna be really pissed, and really be regretting ever getting this thing, and im gonna want my money back from Academy or S&W.

Just wondering if the round was all of the way in the barrel when the firing pin hit the rim? If the bolt is partially open the round will actually push back toward the bolt and split the casing of the round because it's not all of the way in the barrel where it should be.

I've seen this happen on one of the Colt .22's recently, and wondered if your S&W did the same thing? I would just for safety sake check and make sure there is nothing binding the bolt action making it stick slightly before going all of the way home.

I don't know this for sure. But I would think the case split for a reason? Honestly it shouldn't have if the round was all of the way home and the bolt completely closed. I'm asking because if this is the case? I wouldn't want to see anyone get hurt.

You were exactly correct! I purchased 2 of these guns the 2nd one did not sound or respond like the 1st. After a few hundred rounds it started to. I took the bolt apart, removed guide rods from bolt. Lightly polished guides and slots in bolt, removing all burrs & sharp edges. Retried shooting Win. Wildcats, gun shot perfectly, very accurate with this ammo.

I sent the 1st gun's bolt assemble to S&W, not the whole gun, just to replace ejector and polish bolt slots and guides. These guns are so precision-tight tolerance, it will only take a small burr or sharp edge to cause a problem. I will continue purchasing S&W's, any day!! Fun gun to shoot too.

Yes, I believe it is very important to know a guns action, troubleshooting, and disassembly , the more you know the better. I have a friend that also pointed this out, I want to also THANK YOU.

I went to the range again today hoping that a simple cleaning and better attention while loading would fix the issue. Unfortunately, it did not. I called S&W and they are sending shipping materials so they can fix it. I am also waiting for a call back from the manager at Fox Ridge Outfitters (best prices and service around) to see if he will just swap it for another one.

S&W and this retailer have both been fantastic with all my other S&W products. I highly doubt this is the norm with these rifles; everything else I have from them has worked flawlessly. I think I was just unlucky enough to end up with a lemon. I am certain the rifle will be corrected after they get their hands on it.

Has anybody had this issue and been able to correct it on their own?

sorry for your troubles, i know the feeling, had mine 4 days, with jamming issues, i wish Academy would have just 'swapped' my 15-22, but they wouldnt help me out, and they sent it back to S&W for me for repairs, took a week longer than needed, cause they accidently sent it UPS ground. But hopefully after talking to S&W, they will have my gun back to me by next week. Ive read about several 15-22's with the jamming isue latly.

ive read about people taking it apart, and polishing something another, and it working good after that, who knows, im looking foward to getting mine back.

Has anybody compared it to the colt ultrmax (or whatever its called)

I have talked to people and read reviews about the colt jaming with most kind of amo. Also do they make bigger than twenty five round mags for it. IF not I am sure someone will make an aftermarker one soon. the gun is hard to find I found one at a local shop for 425. the other shops in town have them on back order.

GunBroker.com auction update...the 7th M&P15-22 sold yesterday at $465. Two more auctions end in 3 days. My neighbor finally found one in Memphis 2 days ago and waiting for delivery.

My brother-in-law has 3,400 rounds through his as of last weekend...zero problems. He has been using CCI ammo only.

Are you keeping a spread sheet of the auction sales. :D

Good info.

i called S&W yesterday, they said they had a 8 day turnaround time, and should have my gun by end of week, if i understood him right.

That would be great. Waiting for a gun to come is just like waiting on Christmas. :o

Speaking of Christmas, Wishlist that is.
How about S&W making the M&P15-22 with suppressor options by the end of this year. Also in 17HMR and 17Mach2? I got one of each on my list just in case.

i would like to get a scope for mine, but would like a laser too, but really havent found a nice enough looking laser for my gun. I have a Viridian Green laser on my Taurus 24/7 Pro DS 9mm pistol, it looks great!!! works great oo. They have a universal laser, but not sure it works on the ar15's and it cost more than the one i got for my pistol.

I got a call back today from the manager at Fox Ridge Outfitters. He informed me that he would be happy to exchange mine for another one that he had in stock; he apologized for the inconvenience, even though it wasn't his fault. In addition, I cannot fault Smith & Wesson, it's a new product that is bound to have a mistake here and there. I just got a lemon. The retailer said that this is the only time they have seen this issue and only the 2nd time they have heard about it. I was extremely happy that I didn't have to wait to send it to S&W and then wait for it to return. Thanks Fox Ridge!

I already ran some rounds through the new one and what a difference. It operated flawlessly, even at a very rapid firing pace. This is going to be a fun little plinker that was well worth the wait.

TxShooter, I hope you get yours back soon. When it comes back and fires flawlessly, it will have been worth the wait for you.

congrads for finding a good seller, thats appreciates you and cares what you think, and wants to make you happy, i wont be getting another firearm from Academy.

oyeah, when i do get it back, hopefully end of the week, and it works flawlessly like yours, i'll be more than happy. Thanks.

I called S&W yesterday on my broken feedramp problem. They're going to send me shipping labels and i'll send it off for repair. The guy told he hasn't heard of that problem yet so we'll see what happens.
