M&P 15-22 Results, Post 'em here. I got Mine!!

Today is 9 days they've had mine at s&w. Good luck with yours ,seems to be a common problem latly.

called S&W again today, and they told me i should have mine back in about 10 Business days...

Do the factory sights on these need to be dialed in , or are they pretty much set from the factory?
I bought one that has the rear sight cranked all the way to the left? I have not shot it yet.

there not perfect, or atlease mine wasnt, i had to tinker with the sights a bit.

I bought 2 of them. One good .. One bad one.
My shop is sending the bad one back. :(
Does anyone know what is causing the failure to eject problem? Probably S&W doesnt even know... lol.

Great question, id like to know myself, it seems to be popping up alot more, mine did the same thing, and jamming, etc. S&W has had it now for about 11 days, called this morning and they told me i should have it back in about 10 business days from now..

i read that the other day, who knows..i figure when i get mine back from S&W, It should perform like a champ, hoppefully, or i want my money back from Acadmey or S&W. cause i dont want to send it back again.

I've shot mine at 25 yards and definitely had to adjust them. In fact, I still need to do some tinkering.

Well I moved the ejector a tad inward, and it shoots like all get out now! 300 rounds downrange, with no failures.
So I believe I have solved the FTE problem, on these guns.
You think S&W would testfire these guns (More than one round)!

great to hear that allglock, great news!!!!, and yes, you would think they would test fire them more for sure.

Now if S&W would get their head out of their arse, and send me the mags I ordered over a week ago! I called today and they said they still havent shipped. When I ordered them the guy sad "we have tons in stock".
The waiting game continues..................

wow, i ordered 1 few weeks ago, shipped next day, took about a week via Fedex.

now if they would like you said...'Get there head out of there azz' and get my gun back to me, that would be great.

How did you move the ejector a tad inward? Bend it or ???

Is a tad more or less than a scosch?

Called S&W this morning for the latest, and they said my gun was returned to Academy!!!, so if this is true, i should have my gun today or tomorrow, depending if they mailed Yesterday or today. Cause they send it next day delivery.

Mine was purchased a week ago at Academy in Oklahoma City and shot for the first time this morning. I followed the loading instructions I found in this forum. It ran perfectly with Minimag, bulk Blazer, and Fiocchi.

glad to hear that, congrads!!!

I got a M&P 15-22 with six magazines by special order last week and have had it out to my range twice...what a disappointment! It has not gone through a single magazine so far without at least 5 malfunctions. They are mostly FTE's (stovepipes with the flattened mouth of the fired case sticking into the ejection port and blocking the bolt partway open with the next round fed almost all the way into the chamber) and I had one OOB detonation that sprayed some fragments hither and yond. Feeding seems OK as far as I can tell.

I have put about 300 rounds through it so far and it seems accurate, but I am getting way more Phase II Malfunction Clearing practice than I bargained for. I find myself watching for ejected brass rather than looking at the sights, because it is easier to clear the malfunction if you don't drop the hammer on an out-of-battery bolt.

I have a feeling that my OOB detonation happened when I pulled the trigger after a stovepipe and the live round was being held against the breech face by the extractor with the bolt blocked open by a crushed fired case.

I read this whole thread and understand about the magazine loading technique, but that does not help with my rifle. I guess I will try the ejector tweak next time out and call S&W if that fails.

I want to like this gun, but so far it is a losing battle.

The ejector tweek WILL fix it. You must turn the gun upside down and look through the magazine hole. You will see where the ejector is in relation to the bolt and breechface as you slowly pull the bolt back. The ejector will need to be bent towards the breechface. Just do a little at a time.
Do not be too forceful. I had to tweek mine twice. It now works flawlessly. Good luck! I will try to get some pictures up if I get a little time.

Pics would be great. Don't want to bend the wrong part the wrong way.

Yes, I too would like to see those pictures. I have been thinking about getting one, but not if it is going to be a problem child.

I have two, and the both run flawlessly. I would not hesitate to buy one. They are loads of fun to shoot!

CANT WAIT TO GET MINE BACK!!!! im so excited, lol.

I cant wait for you to get it back either! I know that feeling!
Please let us know what S&W said they did to fix it. That will be interesting...... Maybe they read this thread, to figure out what was wrong with it!..... lol.

OK. In the picture below, my ejector was more towards the straight orange line. It needed to be moved inward approx. 1/16 of an inch, in the position it is in now. Note the positon it is in relation to the breachface. I have the ejector hook circled in orange. Hope this helps!
