Sent my M&P 45c back to S&W for repair today . Slide will not stay open after last shot fired . Maybe the mags ,they do not fit flush with the bottom of the grip when fully loaded and are sloppy as hell when in the pistol empty. i also asked them to look at the trigger as it seams hard, heavy, stiff, and gritty after 150 to 200 rounds . one of the mags will not always bringup the last round, like the spring or follower is bound up . Yes the mags are clean inside .Hope they can resolve the problem .

Dang, just ordered a new 45c.....

After the first mag through my new 40c the slide did not stay open. But I noticed that I was resting my thumb against the slide stop release just enough to hold it down. My FS has the thumb safety and I am accustomed to resting my thumb on it, so it seemed like a reasonable excuse. Also, it is pretty tight to get a fully loaded magazine into the mag well and it doesn't sit quite flush on mine either; but I haven't had any issues since that first one (which was my fault).

Hi buddy.

I just bought my new MP9, in 5 days I can go for it.

Before buying the gun, I rent this like 3 times in 2 range.. in one of then, one day happen to me the same... after shoot all bullet, the slide not stay open.. I told that the guys but I dont know if they fixed it.

Hope this dont happen to my new gun... if not, I would have to buy a glock hahha

My thumb never touched the slide release ,that is not the issue . I'm shure S&W will get it right what ever it is . I have 9 S&W revolvers ( my 2 circa 1976 19's are my favorite revolvers ),and 11 Semi auto S&W pistols ,and all are great weapons . IMHO the 1006 10mm is the best 10mm pistol ever made ,it was good right out of the box and is now fantastic after Novack got rid of the mag disconect and did a trigger job on it . Puts my Colt Delta elite to shame .
I have high hopes for the M&P ,but I fear it will never be as good as my Walther P99 in 40 or my S&W p99 in 45acp.
but for a carry gun at only $432.00 ,I can't beef too much .It would be wonderfull if the M&P trigger could be as nice as the P99 . Imagine the M&P with that single /double action trigger of the P99 .At any rate ,you know that S&W customer service and repair is top rate and will resolve the minor issues what ever they are .

You might look at the M&P forum, I seem to remember something about this on the older pistols. Something about the mag catch being to soft or something. Anyway I think this was common a couple of years ago and was an easy fix. Smith and Wesson is very good about making it right.

I have a 45c and love it, never had a magazine issue. Though I agree that the trigger is stiff and gritty at first.

There are 3 fixes for this

1. Send to custom shop for trigger job. Most expensive

2. Buy the Apex tactical sear and plunger, and install yourself.
Not bad around $60

3. Dry fire it and shoot it it will work out over time. Cheap solution.

if it hasn't worked out in 150 to 200 rounds and countless dry fires it ain't going to . When it comes back I plan to use some Apex parts to remidy it .

Exactly, I had one about 4 years ago. Under rapid fire it would not stay out of battery on the last shot. It was a combination of two things. Springs for catches too light and thumbing the realise. Dry fire does make them smoother. It also builds muscle strength and memory. I'll snap a new gun a couple thousand times in a couple weeks.
