Does anybody know if the original issues of the M640-1 revolvers received any special machining before leaving the factory.
A close friend of mine got one out of south Florida and it appears to have been machined under the extractor star and the trigger pull is much smoother than other J frames of the era.
We haven't examined the internals yet.
I suspect that a really competent gunsmith did a trigger job and some extra work for the original owner.
The price was right and the current owner has decided that he has found his new carry piece.

Mine has fine machine marks, can really see them in a close-up picture.

i'm the guy with the 640-1. its a new favorite from a fine era of production. seems the internals are factory but some polishing was done. the cylinder holes have also been chamfered for speedier reloads too. whoever had this 640-1 at some point made it a serious carry revo and thats exactly what i'm doing with it!

That's why I carry the 640 pro. It has just about every upgrade already covered. They're a little pricey, but when you add what the upgrades would cost separately, along with the price of a regular 640-1 it starts to look better and better. Plus it's a 357, but at 24oz. it's still a little light for comfortably shooting 357

I have had several JFrames, two of which being a 640 Pro (my current is the 2nd 640 Pro I've owned, as I sold the other ones years back during a hard time and regretted it) and both had GREAT (to me) triggers.

I had a 642 at one point, an SP101 WC, and toyed with a 637 someone had that I know, and definitely felt my 640s had better triggers.

Also, they're nice shooters for their size.

Congrats to the new owner.
