Machined load assist buttons

The tabs look nice. Any plans for one with a knurled surface?

I love bright colored followers, even have one in my shotgun, but I have been wondering if anyone here has painted one and had it last. I think it would hold up if prepped and painted correct so if you really paint your followers, post up and report about it.

Rit dye

Mine still look like they came black from the factory.

The darker patches are flaws/swirls in the polymer, not the color.

JZ,
Pics don't tell depth perception very well... Do the new button stick out quite a bit further than the stock plastic buttons.?????

Seem and feel easier to load...I gotta lotta mags to swap into these if thats the case.!!!!

Let me know,

Paul

Good to know he's a fellow Michigander... they will get here quicker also...

They are only slightly (less than 1/16th of an inch) wider than the stock buttons. They feel very solid and they are drilled all the way through, which allows for a positive feel when loading. They are only slightly heavier than the stock plastic, and VERY good quality. They DO come covered in some black grease or something, which wipes off pretty easily, so watch out for that when you open them. I'm glad I made the purchase. Here are some comparison pics. The center button is the machined one. The left is stock FDE, the one on the right is stock black.

Rit dye on poly mags rings a bell, so on poly followers it makes sense. Can you elaborate a bit on how you did it? Straight black Rit Dye? How long? Any other processes to achieve that result (like 2x to dye or etc.)?

Nice picts. I plan to do the same side by side photos with the raveneyecustomes models I have just for fun. Will post up photos unless someone beats me to it.

Not that it really matters, but it looks like he does not notch his so they could twist and turn around. Again, no big deal, but you can see the stock ones get a notch so they cannot spin.

JZ,

Thanks man, that is just the comparison and pics I was looking for... you da man.!!!!!

Now time to purchase a triple batch and get started.!!!! ;0)

No, they're not notched like the stock ones, but the stock ones spin freely as well. The notch doesn't do anything.

Jz were happy to hear you like the products he really takes pride in what he does and won't ship anything thats not of top quality.

Then you should put it in your profile..so we know where you are.!!!!

Also, he might want to think about meeting and getting me some to see if they will sell at gunshows... I am set up at most of the gunshows here in MI... looking for military collectibles... get the word out, might could sell a few thousand more.!!!!

Garand man you should email rob ur info and ur idea im sure hell be all for it.

So here we go. Got mine today, and a little comparison to the raveneyecustoms is provided as I said I would do.

To be honest, as I am always honest, I am a little disappointed at the fit and finish. As the photos show, mine are already rusted. A few, rusted pretty badly - that does not bode well for real world use. The finish used is either real low quality or non-existent. You can see the 2 side by side, the raveneyecustoms are a much higher finish quality clearly, an actual professional black gloss finish is used.

Size and weight is about the same. Design style is pretty much the same. Function is the same. Fit in the mag feels the same. Price is better per button. No doubt they do "work" fine and serve the purpose, I just expected more from the finish quality and not happy with rust though at this stage, since it is in the recesses of the button, you cant see it when installed. And please don't tell me I could just paint them, I know that.. but don't feel I should have to.

I think it will be obvious in the comparison photos which is which.

Wait, you're saying the ones from Quality Metalworks and Design came to you rusted? Mine were covered in oil or grease or something and show no sign of rust. In fact, mine look like the better ones in your pics. I'm sure Quality Metalworks will rectify for you. Or at least provide an explanation for the condition of yours.

Came rusted right in the bag just as the above photos show. Those photos speak for themselves. I got them out of the mail box and the onto my mags and into these photos within 15 minutes.

Maybe I got a bad first batch? As I truly expected them to look like the raveneyecustoms clearly seen as a nicer finished black above. Your saying all of yours look like the one on the right of the 2nd photo from the top?

If so, yeah, I got a bad batch it would appear as mine clearly don't look like that.
