My part of SW Missouri is caught up in the ice storm that is hitting the region. We have a light layer of ice all over trees, power lines, other places. The roads don't seem too bad right now, thankfully.
This storm is going to be with us until Sunday. I'm not sure what we will get, especially if it gets colder overnight and it gets icier.
If you are getting the same weather, stay safe, be careful.

I'm North & East of you but waiting for that storm to hit this afternoon. They are forecasting 1/2" to 3/4" of ice over Fri night, Sat. & Sun. But it is supposed to be 51 degrees on Monday!

The little one horse town I work in just shut everything including US Bank and the courthouse down. I am fixing to head home now myself. Guess I'll load some 44spl.

We are bracing for it on Sunday. Local wx guys and gals are in the "scare us" mode currently.
How true!!!!
Was forecast here for late Sat. night through Sunday night, now Sunday morning through Monday! 1/4" to 1/2" ice and freezing rain, but the forecast seems to be with the line for ice tending more to the south part of the state. Will see and 'HEAR' the prognostication terror from the TV people!!!!!
DOT out spraying the roads heavily, as well as the local towns maintenance crews.
Our town just uses sand on the intersections when needed which seems logical and cheaper for them!

I have some heavy sleet as I type this, expecting up to 1/4" of ice. Supposed to be downtown at 5:00. Not sure that is going to happen.

Mals

Midwest ice storm = it happens now and again this time of year....no big deal....we got a layer of it Wednesday/Thursday...........a couple buckets of ice melt took care of the areas where we walk.....

I'm in St. Charles County west of St. Louis city and County. It has started out here and the mail lady said it is getting bad. I'm hunkering down for a shut-in weekend. I might even get something done around the house.

There has been one weather related fatal car crash in Jefferson County to the south along I-55.

I'm on the northern edge up around Peoria .. nothing here and 1/10th to 1/4 inch of ice is expected here but won't start for us till tomorrow afternoon their saying ..

I've got wood for the wood stove close by and water already in jugs 10 gals all told .. food and other supplies well get this afternoon when we go shopping ..

Everyone here is in full panic mode buying enough groceries to last for months and every generator in town has been sold, all schools and many businesses are closed and everyone is talking about what they are doing to prepare for this terrifying tragedy. I've been outside with the dog and wasn't even wearing a coat and the streets are bone dry, the low tonight is 32 degrees then it creeps back to 46 tomorrow. The temp is not supposed to drop below 32 all weekend so I don't see what everyone is so worried about.

Hey, we're praying for you folks that it doesn't get as ugly as they are predicting. We had one a few years ago that had my area out of power for 6-7 days and tremendous tree damage. It's no fun at all.

Nothing here in Springfield MO, wet streets only. Went to the American Legion for a few cold ones. No one is in panic mode.
Now my buddy in St Louis, he says it's pretty bad there.
He's N/E of me. A few miles makes a big difference.

We're forecasted to get it out here in the mountains of West Virginia starting early tomorrow morning and lasting all day Saturday.
We had planned on going to the YMCA for a workout tomorrow but we're gonna do a home workout instead.

On the other end of 60 Highway from you, our television weather crew is decidedly downtrodden about the lack of devastation here in the bootheel. The freeze line was decidedly north of here, and caused a lot of problems in the St. Louis metroplex. All I know is nobody wants an ice storm event like we had in January of 2009. It was back to 17th century living for about ten days for most of us here . . .

We are on the south side of Indy. Expecting the ice overnight. We're planning to go to the Indy 1500 gun show Saturday morning, weather permitting.
