I'm a fan of the .41 Mag. I have a non-pinned 57 with the abhorrent 'lock' but I'd like a pinned six inch 57.

My local shop has one but it's a consignment sale and the owner wants $1450. I believe it's a mid 70's pistol. Too much in my opinion.

I expect to find one for $1K or less. Am I being unrealistic?

You might find one for less but it might take awhile . That seems a big high but many times I have felt I paid too much , then a few years later it was a good time to buy . It depends on how bad you want it ? Regards Paul

Nice pre lock guns are typically starting at about $200 above the cost of a new one.Unless you find a well used one at a shop that has not been following the current market.

You can find 6” 57s in $800-$1000 range, if you are not expecting a 90%+
example. I find that biggest part of S&Ws I run across, especially in magnum chambering have been neither shot much or carried either. These bring top dollar.
In my area the price has stalled on guns that are not high condition, breaking $1k.

You can probably find a 6" model 57 that is not pinned. If You demand a pinned barrel You will be in the N prefix or S prefix serial numbers. For a model 57 pinned barrel around here You would pay more than $1400 in good shape. I would suggest You save some more if You want a quality 57 with a pinned barrel. If it has a clamshell with it that price goes up drastically. Good luck in Your search.
