I have a Smith and Wesson .4013 which is Aluminum, and Stainless. I was turned on to a product called Ballistol. I know I can use it on the barrel and slide for cleaning, and lubrication, but my question is, will it hurt the Aluminum, or anything else for that matter! I know Hicock45 uses it on his Glocks, but that is a polymer receiver! Main thing is that I don't want to ruin the finish on my gun! It has Mineral spirits in it like C.L.P, so I wouldn't think that it would mar the finish, but I want to find a YES or NO answer!! Anyone out there use this product, or have any recommendations? All help would be appreciated!!!

Is the aluminum frame on your 4013 anodized? If so:

"Now,I did have some initial fears of using Ballistol on anodized aluminum and finely finished blued weapons due to its mild alkaline nature. After several conversations with Dr.Zettler at Klever-Ballistol in Germany and a few other folks in the know, those fears were put to rest."

If you google on "ballistol +aluminum" you'll see more of the same. I used to use Ballistol on fine precision airguns and now on my various all-steel and aluminum/steel handguns no problems that I can see. Not as aggressive as some other cleaners you need to give it time to work.
