Picked up a Model 59 at auction today. When it was all said and done, I paid $406.80. Serial number gives it a DOB circa 1977/78. Mechanically it's in good shape, no cracked frame and the bore is clean and shiny. No box so it's a shooter, but even then, it's in good shape. I've been wanting a Model 59 ever since I picked up my Model 5944 a few years ago. I've learned that the first-generation Model 59 examples aren't as common as they used to be. Can't imagine why. It's only been 40 years since the Model 59 went out of production. Anyway, here it is with the Model 5944. First and third generation.

I got a 59 when they first came out. It was totally reliable and I was very pleased with it. I put lots of rounds through it including hundreds of reloads.
If you shoot yours, I think you will be pleased.
I also don't think the price was that bad.

It appears to be in overall good condition. I think what you got is worth close to $100 more than what you paid. Given that it is not in perfect condition, no box, no docs, it is definitely a shooter. Treat it well and enjoy your new Model 59. A range report would be appreciated.

Wow you got a very good deal! Enjoy it!

....and be careful. These tend to increase desires to obtain other 1st and 2nd gen pistols. That's what happened to me anyway.

I'm already infected. I avoided them for awhile, but eventually I succumbed.
