TAK33xx but I bought it three years ago. It is in great condition but no box. As mentioned it is from the first batch.
Well I've got TAK069*. Anyone got an earlier one? GARYHi Ron,
The TAS prefix dates to late 1986, and TBR dates to 1988. According to the Standard Catalog of S&W 3rd Edition, the first serial range was TAK0001-TAK7727.
Mine is a TBB1686. One of the hardest to read serial number stampings of all my Smith Autos. It is in my top 3 favorites. Loaded out the the 645 is almost the same weight as my 5906TSW. Of course the 5906 accommodates a lot more misses.
Mine is TBF75xx,
My guess is that S&W went with Phillips head screws because most purchasers would have such screwdrivers on hand, but not as likely to own a set of Torx wrenches.I love 645s but that Phillips head screw on the right side safety always looked out of place, I think. Torx were out before the mid 80s. Why didn't they go with that?
I shot that group a few days ago. I started out with a clean gun.
