I found a model pre-27 5-screw with a 0 before the regular SN which indicates the gun was made in 1954. The gun has a 3 1/2" barrel and the bluing is practically gone. It has no rust an it loooks like plain steel. Technically ok. The 0 stands "alone" a little before the SN. Is this a Club Gun and is there any higher value compared with a non Club Gub? I live in Germany and it is hard to find out more detail. Of course, I know a 5-screw pre-model 27 with that barrel length is not an every days find. Any help from you guys? Thanks!

Do not think you have a Club gun. Don't think the 0 is factory. Your gun should have an S before the number. The grips are much newer than the gun and also looks to me like the gun is refinished.

Do you know if there is a serial number stamped inside the shoud and on the cylinder?

It's been re-stamped. Here's what the serial number looked like at that time period. besides the "O" preceding the number and the location of the serial number, notice the different font? The 1, the zero, the 8 - this is a different die set than the one Smith and Wesson was using. I have a number of S and W's from this time period and the stamp is consistent.

Thank´s for all your answers. As I never saw a club gun before I know what is wrong with this model 27. I*m sure that someone plished the SN away and re-stamped it. As I do not have the gun in my hands, I cannot tell what is on the yoke. The owner says that there is NO finish left, but the revolver looks different. Anyway, Ikeep my fingers off. Thanks again.
