After being deprived due to California's ridiculous gun laws, I feel like the proverbial "kid in a candy store" every time I visit a gun store out here in Indiana.
It really is amazing. I just stand at the gun store counter in disbelief at all the nice things I can now legally buy. I actually caught myself smiling/grinning the other day as I was looking through a shop.
A few years ago, I pretty much stopped collecting and stopped looking through gunbroker because I was always frustrated at not being able to purchase what I wanted to purchase. It literally pushed me to the point of losing interest in a great hobby.
I have to say I honestly feel better being out of CA... I feel like my rights are no longer being infringed upon.
I grew up in CA, and the weather really is great out there. But, the state simply treats it's people like crap in a lot of ways. The politicians are just so righteous and act like they inherently know what's best for the citizens. Oftentimes, it seems as if they think Californians are stupid or something and need to be protected from themselves with all kinds of restrictions/laws. And yet, with all the gun restrictions out there, it's not like I felt any safer out there than I do out here in the Midwest U.S.A.
I'm also a car enthusiast and was constantly annoyed at how I was so limited/restricted in what I could legally do to enhance my project car's performance. However, everywhere I looked there were obviously illegally modified street racers. It just makes no sense.
I don't know how to describe it other than to say that I actually feel like I'm allowed to breathe more freely out here in the Midwest.
Anyways, I'm glad to be out of there and I truly empathize for all the fellow gun enthusiasts in CA. I will probably visit CA frequently because so many areas are really beautiful. But, I truly am done being infringed upon.
Regards,
James
