Movies that scare ya. I mean really SCARE you to the core?

I'm surprised no one's mentioned those "Hygene' movies they used to show in basic right before your first pass

I really liked John Goodman as Babe Ruth in The Babe but that was more a biography than a baseball movie.

A League of Their Own
starred Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, John Levitt, Lori Petty, Madonna and Rosie O’Donnell and a few others that I can’t remember.

There are a couple of Tom Hanks movies that I won’t go see but I’ve never seen a movie with him in it that wasn’t good

Thanks, I might give it a shot sometime. Though I dont like Hank's choice of politics and WWII vet-bashing, I admit I never saw him give a bad performance. I still remember that short-lived tv show he did.

Oh and, another one who has been in movies that scares the livin daylights outta me is Richard Simmons. I saw him on something recently and WOW, he can be a tad weird.

There are lots of movies that claim to be "scary". I guess we all have out favorites, you know, the ones that really make you feel like you might wet your pants. What does it for you?

I've never been affected by the rubber monster movies or the space alien stuff or even the gut and gore type. The first movie I ever saw that upset me was the original "The Exorcist" where the little girls head did the 360. The special FX were awesome. Miss Pam made us sleep with the light on for several nights and she put a claw hammer on her night stand. I had visions of waking up with no face but it all turned out alright. Still I felt better when she put the hammer back in the garage.

We stood in line for 2 hours in the cold misty rain to see it. I can't explain why it got to me. I found it interesting that William Freidkin, the producer, quit making movies for 12 years after he did that one saying that too much weird stuff happened during and right after they finished it. And when he did come back he stayed away from that type movie.

Well, tonight I watched a movie we rented from NetFlix that got to me almost as much as "The Exorcist". It's a new movie and stars nobody I ever heard of. But it was well directed, well acted, and the production design was excellent to highten the scariness of the movie.

The title is "The Conjuring". It's a true story which occurred in 1971. The story of a family that moved into an old farm house built in 1863 and the demonic posession of the house and the mother of the family.

If you google ROGER AND CAROLYN PERRON you can see the family that it happened to and also read about Ed and Lorraine Warren the people who investigated the house. BTW they also were in on the investigation of the Amityville houe and The Haunting in Connecticut.

I know a lot of these flics are phoney but this one and the Warrens is legitimate as far as I can determine. I've been keeping my eye on Miss Pam and so far she hasn't gone for the hammer but I'm gonna keep on keepin' an eye on her just in case.

I just don't know if stuff like this really happens but I do know one thing for sure and for certain. I don't EVER want to experience even a water glass levitating and flying across the room.

We have a considerable collection of movies on VHS, DVD and Blueray. I think I'll pick something on the light side and watch that and then maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to get some sleep.

If you have seen some of the haunted house type movies and weren't impress be careful with this one. It might just grab ya and have you running to the garage to get a hammer of your own. I've seen most of the others and none of them scared me. Some, like Amityville were good movies but not really that scary. But "The Conjuring" did a number on my head.

You've been warned..........

Glad you liked 'A Haunting In Connecticut'. I was the Executive Producer on the first version that aired on Discovery Channel as well as 'A Haunting In Georgia' and the first five seasons of the 'A Haunting' series on Discovery ("In this world there is real evil..."; I wrote that!). Here are the movies that got too me:
1. The Mist....very, very disturbing.
2. The Grudge....very scary; made me sleep with the lights on!

3. Sinister....scary & disturbing.

The only thing that ever stuck in my mind was the movie Alien, when the baby monster burst thru the stomach.

A little FYI, that whole chest burst thingie was not in the script nor rehearsed! The director, Ridley Scott, wanted to see if such a special effect would shock people so only actor John Hurt, the film crew, and Scott knew what was about to happen. When the Alien burst out of Hurt's chest the reaction from the other actors was real, almost too real when Koto grabbed that fork and nearly:D stabbed the alien and/or Hurt. What you saw from those actors was real shock & fear...Are you not entertained?

The film shown just prior to pulling into Subic Bay in the Philippines during a WESTPAC was pretty disturbing. Old black and white film that would scare the **** out of you.

Kinda the same scenario happened in the vastly stupid movie: Humanoids of the Deep, that I cant believe two of my favorite actors were part of: Vic Morrow and Doug McClure. Two young folks decide to have fun under the sheets by camping out on a deserted section of beach. She goes inside for a nap or something, he takes a swim. Enter the huge Salamander-like creatures. One attacks the guy swimming, then it or another, rips open the tent and rapes the girl-impregnating her. Fast forward to end of movie, she has a normal baby, then out pops its "twin" which is a baby Salamander.

I don't watch 'horror' movies, finding them not at all entertaining, so I haven't see a movie of that genre lately.

The last movie that truly scared me was the first 'Alien' movie. it was a masterpiece. You never really saw the alien until the very end. It was a GOOD movie, directed by the extremely talented Ridley Scott.

The most amazing thing about 'Alien' was that the sequel 'Aliens' was arguably better, but not really too scary. More action oriented. It made the cover of Time magazine, and that is saying something, I think.

Watched another one since I started this thread. The Ruin. The vines on the ground would crawl up to the victims in their sleep and get inside them. They tried cutting them out at first but in the end, well...... don't want to spoil it.

Not the best acting in the world but the concept was pretty disturbing. If you'll pardon the pun I thought it was............creepy!

I watched one just after I made my previous post, that I suspect a lot of members will po-po me for even watching, much less thinking it was scarey, but I do like the movie. It had just never hit me that it was a "scarey" movie.

Titanic...I know, I know, it's a "chick-flick" and most people here don't care for the star, but that movie is frightening as the ship starts to break-up and sink. The hopelessness, and despair of those who know they have no hope of making it to the boats...the terror of being trapped below decks, waiting for the water, of the lights finally going out, leaving one trapped and in the dark...the long falls to water, or to smash into someting solid and unyielding...Rose, looking into the eyes of a blond woman, so close, but so far away, just before she lets go and drops, screaming..that just was as scarey as anything I've ever seen.

Then, there was that cold...cold water, with all those other people who were frantically trying to stay alive for one more minute, and finally that field of the silent dead...well, it was sobering.

Entertained ?I spent $4.00 on the movie ticket and $6.00 on new Fruit of the Looms. Yea I was entertained all right. lol

I just thought of another think that left skid marks.

When my buddy and I were like 15 or 16 we sort of sneaked in to "A Clockwork Orange" now back then it was rated X no one under 18 admitted. For a reason, I was set back by the violence and treatment.
