My experience with a hybrid driver

They love to feel superior and more enlightened than the rest of us. I think that drives the liberal left more than anything else.

I must say we did test drive a Ford Escape Hybrid and it wasn't too bad. The problem is we do mostly highway driving, and a hybrid's battery kicks in on low-speed city driving. From 0-35 or so, the battery works the vehicle, and upwards of that, the gasoline engine takes over, but you're using a higher, gas-saving gear.

I don't mind the hybrid concept but I'm not one for tiny little cars.

You do know that this is the time to let him know that you are using up the gas he is saving and thank him! Then wave by-by!!!!!!

It's my understanding that the production of a hybrid and its eventual disposal cause much more pollution than they save in their lifetime. Doesn't that make them more like a 'feel good car'? Oh look at me, I'm saving the world.

I have heard this as well, that from the mining of the materials, through its driving life, and its eventual dismantling/recycling, a Prius does more damage to the environment than a Hummer. Mainly because of the batteries.

Next time point to a tree and tell them you saw their ball over there. Then tell him "cool golf cart dude". Really ticks them off!!

The old dude was just pissed off because the squirrel that is the engine got out of it's cage and bit the poor bastard in the bean bag !!! Shoo

I had a hippy type make a comment about my "earth destroying tahoe". I smiled and said that my vehicle is efficient enough for me. Especially when I'm hauling 5 to 7 people safely and comfortably in one vehicle.

So everybody is hatin' on the Prius guy 'cause he's hatin' on the Mustang guy. He and y'all got a lot in common. :D

Have you ever heard Jeff Dunhams sidekick Walter describe the sound a Prius makes? He says it goes "Immmmm Gaaaaaaaay". That about sums it up.

No doubt at all. Thomas Sowell even wrote a book about them entitled The Vision of the Anointed, subtitled Self-Congratulation as a Basis for Social Policy.

You hardly need to read the book, unless you want to collect some facts and verbal illustrations. The title really says it all.

My step daughter & her hunsband have a Prius, couple of years old, maybe 3. They both are as Liberal as I am Conservative. We get along like 2 strange bulldogs. My Explorer had 205,500 miles when I traded it in for a 2007 Ranger. Can't wait to show it to them. LOL.

I say "thank you" for all of the gas they are saving. More for me.

I drive 2001 Tahoe that can pull a 7000lb 28' travel trailer over an 11,000 mountain pass.

Fortunately, here in Colorado Springs the hybrid drivers somehow know not to try and throw the "stink eye" toward truck drivers since most people here have trucks.

Give me an American V-8 any day and let all the econo-freaks drive there 13 horsepower upside down toilet bowls as much as they want. Eat my dust grampa !!! Shoo

I prefer an Italian V-12. It takes a lot of gasoline to make them sing, but that V-12 song is good for the soul and makes my heart smile. When I want to save gas, and if the weather is decent, I'll ride my motorcycle.

If someone really wants to save gas, let them buy a Smart car. Ever see one in an accident? It is scary. A beer can with four wheels is just as safe.

Several years ago I was fueling my road tractor at a Flying J near my house while on the way to pick up a loaded hay trailer. A female with a peeved expression approached and proceeded to deliver a lecture on why I needed to get a more eco-friendly vehicle. After she got done, I commented that I was on my way to pick up hay and I didn't think a Yugo would pull a 20,000 lb trailer. She left without a word.

My wife drives an '05 Prius and really likes it, especially when she has to buy gas. She even has a "Protected By S&W" sticker on the back window next to her "My Daughter is in the Air Force" bumper sticker and her NRA sticker.
Needless to say, she's not a tree hugging lib.
For 46,000 miles all we've had to do is change the oil as recommended by Toyota (it's only the 2010's that are being recalled for brake problems).
Wish I could say the same about my Ford F350 SD 4x4. Great truck, just expensive to maintain and it never passes a gas station it doesn't want to stop at (V10), but my BOSS V-Plow wouldn't look too good on the front of the Prius.
I remember my '80's Buick Park Avenue with the 350 "converted" diesel engine. Blew up at 21,000 miles, but that's another story. "Warranteed" by GM after I wrote them a check for over $2K.

You should see the looks we get over here in Germany with my 99 Chev. Suburban LT 4x4 or my wife with her 09 Chev. Tahoe LTZ, the 20" rims of the Tahoe are bigger than some compact cars drivers door.

That's what life here is about, some of the hybrid owners have trucks too. Both of my PU's are 4WD V-8's, and when the grocery store is 50 miles away, and our only gas station sell regular for $3.24. Weeeeeel.
