Just went to a gun show...

Most .223 (and larger) ammo going for $1 per round +.

22LR Wal-Mart 550 Value Packs going for $35-$40

S&W M&P 15-22 going for $600 - $750

S&W M&P 15 .223/5.56 (plain jane) going for $1,600 +

Lots of supply - not so sure there were a lot of buyers. Lots of guys walking around trying to "sell high"

I came, I saw, I left.

That would not surprise me. The few that had more money or were reckless with their credit cards are down. For everybody else Christmas CC bills are coming or about to and the alleged recovery is just that, alleged. We lost another local restaurant and Macy's announced the closure of the Bloomingdale's here in just the last couple of weeks.

Have only been to a few gun shows. So far have only bought 1 box of 9mm hollow points. To much overpriced **** and idiots sweeping the crowd with barrels for me.

I went to a local show today. Very crowded as expected. All the evil stuff priced high but much of it selling.
I bought a Lyman tang peep sight for a Remington Model 8 for $30. Priced low the seller said 'cause the stem was 'stick welded' to the base..??..OK,,what ever you say,,
It has some super glue on it to keep it from turning and changing adjustment but other than that it's fine. Even has the odd ball size attachment screw.
Bought a set of (very) rough castings, wood and bbl that's supposed to transform into a 'James(?) Ferris, Utica NY 'style percussion target rifle. We'll see...I told myself 'no more projects',,but it's an addiction I guess.
No buyers on my M1 Carbine. I admit it was priced in the silly zone but hey,,it's that time again..

Long lines, the usual but more intense banter about 'they ain't gettin' my guns'.
I can't stand it all day like I used to. A short day of it for me and out the door I went with my treasures.
Only took on 3 jobs too.

I'm usually one of those people who when they go to a show hang out for a good long while. Last one lasted about 45 minutes if that. Just was not worth the aggrevation and trying to get to see what's on the tables. So pretty much soured on gun shows down here. Frank

I'm not even going to our next one on the weekend of the 19th. As bad as they were before the recent unpleasantness, I can't image how bad this one will be. I just can't believe how many guys still think they're going to "hit the show and stock up on ammo"..... I guess they still aren't paying attention.

I sat up a table at the Dallas Market hall gunshow this past weekend and watched the guy next to me do nothing but buy and turn AR's. He was making 200-400 with each sell. Had a ammo can with 1000 rounds for 900.00. I had several old mausers and an Ithaca Model 37 that only was looked at once. I did sell a couple of pistols and one .22 rifle. But it just floored me the AR crowd and prices floating around. Stripped lowers 400.00 that last month were 100.00? I refuse to buy into this.....

$400 for an AR receiver? Really? Are you talking a plane jane forged nothing special receiver? Insane.

I wanted and winced at ponying up for a pretty CNC billet receiver for 280ish when I did my last build.

I will be setting up at the Conroe Texas show this weekend.
See if anyone remembers what a few good S&W's revolvers look like.
Among the Leather/stocks/knives showcases I will slip this in
See what happens as prices are dropping like stones the past week.

Hey Mike, I talked with a guy at the Crossroads show this past weekend that paid $350 for a stripped lower. Didn't look any different than the $88 ones I saw a couple months ago.

Jokers here running adds for polymer lowers, yes, STRIPED, for some $500 to $600! Last month they were $99.. You want to be able to build it?? Forgetabout it! Go figure.. It seems the wheel guns of quality of days past are being ignored and the plastic "toys" are the hot ticket now. If you did not have it before early December of 2012 you are going to pay through the nose(or any orifice) if you NOW decided you need it. It is a sorry state when the ones in control now are using the very guns to raise the GNP and yet kill jobs, raise taxes and send more jobs overseas... I wish they would address the mental health issue or lack of it and let us protect our children and Grandchildren... Kyle

Was set up in B"ham this weekend and it was a zoo. I put my RRA ar on the table for 2 and it lasted until lunch. Since I have others, just thought I would see what would happen.
Took the cash and did some additions to my Smiths. Picked up a very nice mod 57 from bamabiker and a 8 3/8" nickel 29 and still have money left in my pocket. Worked out well for me. 2 PURDDY N frames and enough cash to pay for a Colt 1918 mfg 1911 one of the other folks is going to bring me in March at the AGCA show.
Plan ahead and read the handwriting on the wall,
Larry

That pretty much mirrors my local small town show. A few ARs for $1,700.00+, .223 for $15.00 a box, P mags for $50-$60. I saw one table with some nice S&W revolvers and all were priced at least double what I thought would be extreme top.

I was at a show last month and Quantico Tactical had P mags 5 for $50.00.
I bought three at $12.95 each and I should have bought a pallet. It's more than crazy.
