I had been having a powerful hankering for one of these but due to the market right now I was trying to hold off until supply and prices got back to normal. Well I couldn't wait! I looked everywhere and on every website I could think of. The only place I could find any FDE 45's was gunbroker and only 2 on there. The bid on one of them was up to 900 bucks! I got the other one NIB for 700 shipped. That's probably more than I should have paid for it but oh well! I've been thinking about getting an Apex trigger for it. Any of you guys have experience with them?

Sweet looking gun. I recently got the same but black and no thumb safety.

After 500-600 rounds I grew tired of the gritty trigger and decided to spring for Apex's DCAEK. It was worth it. I'll copy/paste my amazon review below. Have fun with it!

"I would absolutely recommend this kit. The striker block completely cleaned all the gritty feeling from the trigger pull. New sear and sear spring lightened up the trigger break pull a bit (I felt like it was way too heavy before) and eliminated most of the over travel. Break is crisp, but there is a slight amount of creep. Not too bad, just don't expect a finely tuned 1911 trigger. I like the heavier trigger return spring, but you should experiment with the new one and the factory one to see what you like. It really a matter of preference.

Installation is easy enough if you follow the videos on Apex's website. Whole thing took me about 1.5 hrs, and that was CAREFULLY taking my time, and I have NEVER worked on a gun before. If I can do it, so can you. Just make sure to get the proper tools (I used a craftsman pin punch set, pick set, and long needle nose pliers). Sure the tools cost a little more but you'll have them for life.

Great kit, only reason I give 4 stars overall is it seems awful pricey for what it is. I get that these are finely machined parts, but you'll understand what I mean when you spend ~$90 and get a tiny ziplock bag in the mail. That said, if you've been at all considering getting this kit, just go ahead and do it!"

Take and clean it from the Factory storage lube. Lube it as the manual says, then take it out and shoot it. Go through a couple hundred rounds and THEN see how you feel about adding a "Kit" to it,AFTER about 4-500 rounds.

I've had friends ask me what kit I was running after they shot mine. I don't run ANY "kits". I strip it down clean off all the storage lube. While doing that I look for molding burrs, any rough spots and de-burr and HAND pollish everything, also "feel to fit" everything as I go. Then after using FL as directed and durring re-assembly I also pay close attention to "feel & fit". After that I take it out and "gently" (that means I don't play master blaster) proceed to break it in. I take along my range tools just in case of any minor problems. I'll put 100-200 rounds through it,taking my time "seasoning the barrel. That's also at outdoor Free ranges we have. I don't get "crazy" until I hit the 500 round mark and feel it's trust worthy of CCW,then play masterblaster for a few mags. I've saved more then enough money not buying kits first,to buy more than a few new weapons. I'm not putting down "kits". I'm just saying give the weapon a chance to get broke in before dumping in new parts kits right off the bat.

Thanks for the response. I'm not fond of the thumb safety, all the FDE models have them for some reason. I'll be removing it and installing the plugs. The stock trigger doesn't feel all that bad but I think the apex will be worth it.

When I got mine, there wasn't any FDE to be found back then, only a wish. When I found out about the thumb safety it wasn't so bad. NONE of my M&P's have thumb safeties except the Shield (that's livable) and the 22.
