I don't know about cutting virgin treads with these. Should work and I am going to try it on some round stock. But they were made to chase and clean up threads on barrels or frames.
Couple of helpful hints on fixing messed up threads. OIL, start straight and run on till it gets tight then give the end of tap, or side of die a few taps with a light hammer. This will help because it forms the softer metal to the hardened piece. If you ready have threads and they are boogered up usually metal is not missing as much as displaced. The goal if to keep as much as possible and put it back where it belongs. You want to avoid cutting material as much as possible.
Questions PM me or post in Gunsmith section. I will do my best to help you.
$60 for tap or die shipped. $110 for a set shipped
MO or cashiers check. IF your a PAYING MEMBER here a personal check is fine.
