Now that I have 5 M&Ps (FS, 9c, Shield, 22FS, 22c) and 4 1911s, I just decided I must purchase a Ruger GP100 Wiley Clapp, 357. I just purchased the 22c last month. Suddenly this weekend I became overwhelmed with the need for a GP100. I managed to resist yesterday, but I don't think I'm going to make it through the night.

Please help. I do not need a wheel gun. I do not need a blued, absolutely beautiful, melted GP100 with rosewood inserts. I do not need a limited edition revolver that will not be available if I fail to act now.

HELP!!!!

Sorry, no help here. I have an older GP100 with a 4" barrel. I used it to get Distinguished Graduate at a firearms school recently. Great little gun.

I think S&W revolvers have a better trigger and I want a 625 or 627 real bad. So, sorry. No help from me.

However, I do have a question, why don't you have an M&P 45 yet? Your collection is lacking.

GP's are awesome. I love the one I got a few weeks ago, and bought it in a sudden moment of weakness just like you're experiencing. I've always wanted a 3" stainless GP...it's in .38 spl but that's OK. Not a Wiley version but it has the 3" bbl and adjustable sights. Just to give you something to drool over:

The GP100 is a good gun, but check out an old 586 or 686 and you might change your mind on what .357 mag you really want.

Hey, this is the S&W forum after all.

Too late. The deed is done. All is right with the world. Put my order in at 4am this morning. Ordered some speed loaders this afternoon. I am at peace. Hopefully I'll be picking up the new baby at the LGS this weekend.

This is absolutely the last gun I'm going to buy ---- this week! Seriously - anybody want to start a Gun Buyers Anonymous 12 step group. This has got to stop. Please tell me it is possible to own only one revolver. Please tell me I don't need a collection of revolvers to go along with my M&P and 1911 collections. Please......

Sorry but YES YOU DO!!

I know we're in the M&P forum and I love my 3 amigos (FS9, 9C and Shield 9) but I dig my 4" SS GP100 too.

Okay sorry for the Python picture :D, Ruger makes super strong and rugged revolvers that do exactly what they are supposed to. I'm just a Colt / S&W fan.

But that said, any wheel gun lover ought to own a Python. Just saying...

I would not be allowed to join GBA as I am a member of GMC, Gun of the Month Club. Don

I have my eye on one on consignment at my range. The owner wanted $1500 but the manager told him they could bet $2500 so there went my purchase. Bought the guys GP-100.

I'm a huge S&W revolver fan and own more than a few but a can't bring myself to part with my GP100. I think you'll like yours too.

Go to the liquor store and ask them if you have a drinking problem. Good thinking Joe.
You don't want help. You want enabling.

I am a long time S&W admirer, have owned many, began my law enforcement career with a Model 10. Now I own, in addition to a Shield, a GP100 Match Champion 4". Definite keeper.

YOUR in the wrong place, the "intervention" forum is 2 doors down.......:D

We are all afflicted here. I have 2 autos, and now 4 revos since 12/2012. I'm behind on the autos, better catch up!

I too have been wanting a GP100 for no particular reason of need. I wouldn't use it as a carry gun so I would favor a 6" model. Rugers have beefy cylinders and frames which would allow me to use up lots of +P+ ammo I have laying around.

4 years ago there was a seller on gunbroker that was selling 4" GP100's for $299. They came in a factory Ruger case, had the original Lett's grips with the wood inserts instead of the rubber Hogue abominations they put on them now. Mine looked brand new. I sold it for about $340 3 months later to buy something else.

And I miss it terribly. One of the best deals I ever got.

But the blued ones don't do it for me. The stainless hammer and trigger don't look right to me, and the bluing on Ruger's just looks a bit too dull. I know the Wiley Clapp ones are better.

Enjoy that gun!

Mine has the wood grips, is stainless steel, and is a joy to behold.

kbm6893, 4 years ago you got a deal, I'd say. Now they seem to be $600-700 at lgs's around here.

I know. I keep detailed paperwork on all my guns. Every gun that I have ever sold, even if I made money on it at the time I sold it, has increased in value. Other than mass produced plastic guns, no more selling for me!

"Abandon all hope ye who enter here," and yes, of course you will be needing a revolver collection/assortment. And it's going to take more than four or five! Have fun with the GP. :)

Like my wife says "they are like action figures, you have GOT to collect them all". I too am looking at a gp100, as well as a 586, and .....

Nothing to look at here, move along. ;)

My GP100 did not make it to the LGS this weekend. I purchased a box of 38 specials and 357s on Friday hoping I would get to try it out this weekend. While I'm waiting I've already moved on to planning the next revolver acquisitions. Next up will be a SP101 22, followed by and SP101 357. I absolutely need a 22 revolver to burn up the AE 22LR that won't run in the M&P 22c, and I need the SP101 357 to keep the SP100 company. After these next two, I probably should check out S&W revolvers.
