Never broke a bone...

I'm not much of a drinker,I'm a real lightweight .
1986 I made my last divorce payment.
Celebrated ,bought a bottle of vodka and commenced to empty it. Went to the john, standing position and someone knocked,I turned and fell backwards on the thrown, caught the edge on the way down. Broke three ribs next to the backbone, she got me again . :o Took about six weeks to recover. Sneezed once and seen stars.

I have yet to experience any broken ribs, but my recent accident that left me disabled did a number. I had multiple fractured and dislocated toes and metatarsals, compound fracture of the tibia and fibia, fractured pelvis, broken collar bone, shattered scapula and a rotator cuff. Surprisingly, I experienced no pain until a doctor tried to reconstruct a blown out knee (that resulted in almost 8.5 years of pain).

However, I don't know which was worse, the compression fracture of my spine or the failed knee reconstruction. Even the passing of a kidney stone paled in comparison to the knee and back injuries.

Hope you recover quickly and fully sir.
Gun literature can be a good friend right now.

That's no fun.

I broke mine as a youngster. I kept it hid from my parents as we had no health insurance. Tough times. It was extremely discomforting to say the least!

The bottom of my ribcage healed with a slightly outward cant, which still irritates me when I lay on my back to this day. I think my lung was bruised as well as I choked on fluid if I layed down for several days. I may not have always been smart, but I sure learned to toughen up.

If I went to the emergency room for everything I should have I think I would have ruined my parents financially. Time heals most wounds...though not always properly without professional assistance.

My kid was into skateboards....

He broke his wrist, his hand, arms and so many other things I couldn't count. I lived at the orthopedic surgeons office. He wouldn't keep on any cast or splint, so eventually he just quit going. He had a terrible fall as a small child trying to skate down a hill that was too steep for him. Judging by the scar on his helmet, if he hadn't been wearing it he would have been dead.:(
My Lord I hate skateboards.

until last Saturday. Took a fall, stuck corner of nightstand into my ribcage, broke rib #10. Didn't think much about it, Sunday only a little pain, Monday a little more. Today it took me 20 minuted to get out of bed, had to dress sitting on the floor. Wife carted me off to ER. Home again, but I can tell already this pain medication is going to knock me out. Looks like I'll be catching up on my reading for a couple weeks.
When I was younger I broke a couple of fingers and a wrist. I barely remember it. It wasn't anything serious. This year I broke my ankle and it sucked! I couldnt get around for about 3 months. I imagine a rib is pretty painful too, but I hope you can still be mobile.

Off to see the Doc for a postER visit. Things are fairly OK with the meds, but I'd be in trouble with them. Also gotta not take them too long, addictive.

Only bone I ever broke was my little finger on my right hand. I punched a drunk lounge lizard at a bar when he was harassing our ladies. His nose was almost flat on his face :D.

Did a complete fracture of 10th left rib circa 1988. Hurt medium while sitting motionless, Everything else hurt like all get out.

More recently was T Boned in a vehicular incident. After 2 or 3 weeks ribs were getting worse instead of better. Turned out I had a Dislocated Rib. The ER and MD were clueless. Tought me that as long as nothing actually broken or requiring surgery, the Chriopractor is Plan A .

Get you some good pull on boots, all I wear,

I've looked and looked, but my instep is just too high. Same with the side-zip and back-zippered variety. :( The Lacrosse Grange rubber boot is about the only pull-ons I've ever found that I can wear.
