New 2A threat in NJ

I think the biggest problem in NJ is most people don't care if these laws are passed because they are not shooters. They just can't relate. I also think if you polled the residence most would say they don't care if you own a gun; it is not an election issue to them. If these laws came up for a vote in a referendum they would be defeated because only those interested in the issue would come out and vote.

I grew up in NJ. My family are conservative NJ residents. Growing up, I was taught that guns were something only cops and bad guys had. My mom (a pretty conservative person) was adamantly against guns. My dad, a very conservative guy, was just fine with all the hoops he had to jump through in the 70's to own a shotgun (interviews with LE, finger printing, a month wait, and he had to go to the police station to harrang them to give him his permit to purchase). Carrying a gun was simply something only criminals did.

When I moved to PA, and started to carry, my parents came round to freedom.

Most NJ folks are pretty anti-gun---it's in the water there.

I grew up in NJ too. The Jersey Shore, in the 60's and 70's was a great place to live. I'm in Missouri now. I've had a chance or two to move back and work for family, but I couldn't imagine bringing up a family in NJ now.
I have the freedom here to buy a gun and only have the NICS background check to worry about. Being a law abiding citizen, that's no worry at all. Gun ownership, target shooting, hunting, collecting is respected. The air is clean, the woods are full of wildlife, people are friendly, I love the Show-Me state. I've met lots of ex- NJ people here over the years. We have good memories of the good old days in the Garden State, but we plan to stay here.
Come on down and visit us sometime.

Panther, Joplin! Brings back memories. I grew up there. A beautiful state. Used to go hunting at 9 years old with my .22 rifle. Unfortunately, I was assigned to Kalifornia after the Border Patrol Academy in 1955. Passed up too many chances to transfer out. Look like I'm here to stay. Retired in 1989.

Maybe I'm just stupid, but I still can not understand how so many people are able to get away with defining "infringe" so much differently than how dictionaries define it.

New Jersey and New York have effectively cut New England off from the USA as far as road trips are concerned?
Which is really unfortunate, since the great states of Maine, New Hampshire & Vermont are Comstitutional Carry now. Of course you have to get through Mass, first, as well.....

.... and they said it would be like the 'Wild West' up here
Nope. Still just Yankee land.

NJ is one of the 6 or so states with no RKBA on the state constitution, that is part of the problem.

This may or may not apply but does anyone know how this Bill will treat 6, 7 or 8 shot Revolvers? Having grown up in Sussex Co. where hunting and firearms were very much a part of the culture to listen to some of the stories and the hoops that must be jumped through is truly sad. I remember going to Whittingham on Thursdays when they stocked and getting our limit of Birds and then going to school. Firearms in our vehicles, all muddy and disheveled. When asked why we were late we just told them a flat tire and that was literally the end of it. A different world now I reckon.
