what an interesting city.

I enjoy living here. It wouldn't have been a particularly exciting place to grow up being the small town it was. It has grown a lot in the last 20 or so years and there has been quite a lot of development in the surrounding counties. In the summer it's full of tourist that don't know where they are going and the rest of the year it's full of W&M students. From the beginning of May until say the third week in June it is heaven, no tourist and no students no traffic by our standards.

I know exactly what you mean. I live in a little town in Alaska. Not much happens here during the winter. But it's a "world-renowned" fishing spot, so the population more than doubles in the summer. Summer of 2010, it actually tripled. So we get a lot of tourists in big motor homes that don't know how to drive them in the first place. That's where Sport comes into play. You see, I've got a street bike and idiots from out of town are always cutting me off or almost hitting me, but when you strap a big black AR on your back people tend to steer clear lol.

But to the OP, a big welcome from the final frontier!! You definitely started in the right place. Everyone here is friendly and more than helpful.

i went there for a work trip and it was definitely "quiet" to sum it up in 1 word. its different coming from larger cities and going somewhere like that.

When I bought my Mustang GT back in 2008 I had many moments of purchasing insanity and I couldn't stop myself for quite some time accessorizing it, I can see that this 15/22 has had the same effect on me ,I am buying goodies left and right, but I am sure I am not alone here on this.

No.. you are far from alone on that lol. I would actually be afraid to admit how much I have spent on rifles and goodies the last 3 months lol. I started 3 months ago getting my AR-15, then last month my M&P15-22, now I just picked up an AK-47. Between ammo, mags, carry cases, slings, scopes, and other accessories I have gotten thus far... Not a pretty picture. But darnit, I love shooting, and regret having sold off my weapons years ago, and am now back in the game eleventy hundred percent lol. (Although I am not buying a new firearm until next year I have promised myself!!)

Welcome Snake, And I feel your pain on the tourist's, living in VA beach from may to September can really try your nerves

Well , After much tossing and turning I have flip flopped and decided to go with the Real Tree APG MP15/22 because it has the threaded barrel vs the standard black version. I think the APG looks cool too and different, he didn't care which one I get, so only 2 more weeks to go , I can't hardly stand it but it gives me time to get all my accessories here first :D

Ya it's funny, all the sudden I had PLENTY of room around me in every direction. I've actually got a riding buddy that painted the orange tip on his ar airsoft gun and totes it around if he knows he's going into town on a busy day. Better than bumpers!! Lol.

And OP, good thinking on the threaded barrel. I just can't get used to the look of the naked barrel on an AR. Plus with that camo, and some nice camo gear, no little woodland creatures are safe! If you're into that kinda thing anyway. Either way you go, you'll be nothing but happy

I'm thinking this is what Dik had in mind -

That's exactly it!! I'll grab a picture when I get home from work. My girlfriend followed me into town one day and said there's a noticeable cushion around me in the midst of rush-hour traffic. That's classic. Thanks for sharing

Don't know how I missed this but welcome from the Shenandoah Valley. I haven't managed to pick up a 15-22 yet but I've put a lot of rounds through a buddies :).
Enjoy it. And in another week or two the warbles should be out of the squirrels so you can put that camo to use.

Tapatalk ate my spelling and grammar.
