New Python vs 627PC

the Python grip frame never fit my hand the way a Smiths does, so its an easy decision for me. I recently sold my six inch Python , and no regrets

All I can add is that it's great to have options. These threads are like debating Ford vs Chevy, medium well vs rare, blue vs red ..... etc. I'm an equal opportunity buyer/seller. :)

I handled a new 6" Python yesterday and was very impressed. The DA was very smooth and the SA was very acceptable. Unlike the others I have examined before. This Python may have been worked on or just a very good example of a factory gun, not sure. It looked great but I will still lean towards my L frames or a model 27

Ive not jandled any new Snake guns but Id be pretty confident putting my 5" 627PC up against one . Literally the slickest operating revolver Ive ever handled. This is not thousands or even hundreds but WOW! that gun is slick. Come to think of it it and my 686 are probably the best I have, with an edge to the 627.

My older new colt python 6"/357 was a tac driver at 100yds with my 140 gr JHP reloads if I do my part. I wasn't into s&w m27/m28 back then. My python had a Fort Knox lock up when the trigger was pulled. Does the mean anything I'm not sure I seen looser lock ups shoot accurately too.
Someday I'll take the s&w m27/m28 out to compare them.

The only thing I might hit at 100 yards with my 49 year old 6" Python is the Empire State Building, but I wouldn't bet on myself to actually do it. LOL.

I would go with the Smith. A Python is nice but way overpriced, especially the nice vintage ones. The Smiths action is much better. I've had several Pythons in the past and could never get used to the stack in double action shooting. I also couldn't hit accurately in double action. The single action was great but the double action left a lot to be desired.
The new one's don't stack fwiw.

Definitely the Python! My new Python pictured next to my GP100.

I have owned in the past a 627PC and a 627Pro. The PC gun had a super slick action.

I picked up a new 4.25" Python and I think its action is probably the best of any revolver I have ever owned. Better even than the 627PC.

People saying the Python is a Python in name only obviously haven't handled one yet?
So blown away by this work of art, certainly no comparison?

I have never owned a Python but I have 2 627s. Both are real shooters. The 2.625 Bloodworks gun is my favorite 357 ever. It shoots and handles perfectly for me. I used to throw a red dot on it once in a while and shoot it in open class! I still use it as stock or carry class. The trigger is so light and smooth.

The PC is not pretty by any standard but it is a match gun and it is wonderful! I was never a big fan of compensators or porting even though one of my greatest guns is ported, 45acp 25-2 I bought used.
This 627s factory compensator is great! Then at a match the builder of this custom compensator let me have this one to use and evaluate, if I liked it I could pay for it! I like it and sent him the money!
