Your working guns look like they've done a lot less work than mine…

Well, the Model 581 was my duty revolver for many years. I had it re-blued when I retired. It didn't look so good at that time!

I had a few BM's and a few BKM's (alloy frame, same mag.) I thought the size at the time they were new was tiny and they were ultra lightweight! Polymer gave us all manner of new definitions about guns! I had 2 of the PD's in 45. With the exception of Devel they were the tiny semi-auto 45!

Along with several Super B military surplus 9mm Largo guns I think I owner 12 to 15 Stars over the years. Some of the "Best Bang for the Buck" guns ever!

What might a handgun be called upon to do on your ranch?

We have ALOT of coyotes and three small dogs (2 pugs and a Frenchie).
Coyotes killed our two barn cats. Also have copperheads. Our place is extremely rural and law enforcement consists of county sheriffs that could be 10-40 minutes away. So when out on our property, I carry a "ranch gun". This is the valley we live in, you can see, you are fairly isolated and on your own.
