NFA what a joke

Make too much noise about this and Congress will adjust the $200 stamp for inflation. Pay the money and be patient. I remember when I did not buy a S&W 76 machine gun for $250.00 because having to pay $200 for the stamp, and they were slow back them too!

called yesterday to get an update on the 3 form 4's i have in the line that all went pending on May 3. that's almost 6 months and the stamps should be here in a couple of weeks.....BUT....the operators have a new line that they tell you all forms are taking 15 months from date of pending!!!! i'm sure it is a CYA kinda thing and i was taken aback a little.
buddies 4's were sent a couple weeks prior to mine and he has his stamps in hand, that is where i thought my timeline was at.

hopefully it is just Gov. speak for people submitting now, that i can see with the sequester and the way extra load of people submitting NFA p/w for a future scare.

I still think mine will be here in 2-3 weeks, fingers crossed, because i can't see 15 months from a May pending date would put it at August next year! no way!

Could you please, without abbreviations or acronyms tell us what your talking about?

Funny update. Friday/Saturday, LGS had a big shin dig with all the gun reps and big players all set up in the p/lot and big sales inside. i was talking to the SWR guys, and was telling them about the wait and such and i said maybe since they were there my luck would change!

so i got a bunch of swag from all the vendors and went back to work. i had to get up to do some running Saturday and right when i was headed up the street i get a call from the LGS telling me they had some PW for me to p/u.......so i do my running so that the LGS was last since they were farthest away, go in, fight the hoarding crowds, get to my guy and he gives me 2 of the 3 stamps!!!!!!!!!!!!

so i fill out the 4473's, grab my Tucans (get it) and head out the door. get home and 2 perfect break down tubes.....one Huntertown guardian .22 and one .45 Osprey!
the .22 will be a rotating can since i have most on dedicated hosts already, so it will go between a P22 and a MKIII Tacsol. Osprey goes on FN to make it 3 feet long!

anyway, one more 30 cal in the line and that should be next week so things were good at 7 months, 2 weeks.

Hey Roadkill, glad you got yours.

I was so jealous that I decided to call WV today. ( For anyone not knowing what "WV" means... "WV"is the state of West Virginia. That's where you call to find out progress on your tax stamp 304-616-4500 ). Approved Dec 7. A little over 9 months from pending.

cool, glad you got good news! isn't that MKIII (Ruger Mark Three, .22, SA (semi auto) pistol) about 2' (foot) long with a can? (Suppressor/silencer)
try to find a good shoulder holster for that thing. I'm looking at the newer 22/45 lite my LGS has, like i really need another .22 auto! but it is nice!

? Sorry. Unintelligible. 41 out of several thousand members. Guess I'm too old to be part of the Orwellian utopia. I actually still spell and don't speak "Newspeak".

Not at all. It was just the way you asked about it... "tell us what your talking about?" Well, most of us already know, and you are the one interrupting the discussion.

It is sort of like walking into a bar on Superbowl Sunday and asking the bartender "What's a football?"

Google is your friend.. found this for you: Own a NFA Weapon

Just got mine back yesterday, I did the Efile for a PWS MK1 10.5 Upper. Filed on 9-12-13 Approved 12-17-13. Unreal!

WOW!!!

Thats excellent considering whats going on. Mine went pending end of August and nothing so far. But I did mine with a hard copy, not e-file.

Enjoy!!

NYS is a 9 to 16 month wait for a pistol permit. Your wait should seem less bad now

The times have definately slowed down since I got rid of my machine guns. My first NFA transfer was on an Uzi in 2006. It took exactly thirty days from the day I mailed off my Form 4 until I had the gun in my hand. In 2007 I purchased a Thompson on a Form 4. From mailing off the paperwork to gun in hand was exactly thirty-one days.

What I distinctly remember at the time was the old timers talking about how good we had it at the time. They mentioned how it used to take from nine months to a year to get an NFA item approved. I don't think I could have handled such an excessive delay. Apparently the long delays have returned.

supposedly they hired a few more reviewers and the times are coming down. The e-files have been going fast as they test the system.

But caution. The law says a physical stamp must be affixed to the application, and some are questioning the legality of the form they send back which has an image in the place of the stamp.
