Not bad for an old Ruger

This gun found me and convinced me to buy it.

I didn't even know I liked Super Blackhawks, but the bluing and polish on this is really quite nice (my pictures don't do it justice). I date it to 1960, second year production. Unfortunately, the mahogany case is long gone.

Wow.. Very Nice!!!!

I just bought a New Model Blackhawk in 357. Fired it for the 1st time on Saturday the 25th. More then happy with it's performance, almost scary accurate!

No. I pulled the cylinder when I cleaned the gun and noticed that the firing pin projects from the recoil shield when the hammer's all the way down. If you did that over a loaded charge hole, the pin would be resting on the primer. That got my attention right away!

Nice catch. Those were and are great .44's. Try a 250 grain Keith Type SWC, sized appropriately, with 9.0-9.5 Unique for mid-range accuracy and reasonable recoil. The same bullet with 22 gr 2400 was the standard Keith load. It recoils stoutly, even in the SBH. I found 21 gr 2400 very accurate in a somewhat later NMSBH.

they have a "cachet" that the new Models just don't have.

I would keep her just like she is without the conversion to the transfer bar.

You will always have the option to change at no-charge from Ruger.
