Not losing any sleep over a possible assault weapons ban

I for one am not ready to raise the white flag. Our nation fought against tyrants and it's time to do so again. When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have them.

I belong to the NRA, GOA, SAF, NYSRPA, have called and e-mailed all my Representatives more than a few times. I'm heading up to Albany this week to meet with my State Senator regarding issues in my home state. Mind if I take a break?

Agree. I have absolutely no need or desire for an EBR. If I want to hunt, I'll use a real rifle. My revolvers will do me for self defense.

No offense intended, but the 2nd amendment has nothing to do with anything about hunting. I guess it's all about freedom of choice, huh? Which is what the those "tolerant" left of center folks want to take away from us. I don't know, but the "stand together or hang separately" scenario seems to apply here.

The point of my original post was lost.

My post was NOT about political activism.

Rather, I expect Congress, and my state, to enact legislation that will will restrict many semi-automatic rifles/magazines, and I expect that semi-automatic handguns/magazines are next.

Given that scenario, my point is that I am not running out and buying or selling any particular type of gun or magazine. And I am not losing sleep worrying about things I can't change.

It would be great if I had a magic wand that would make my elected officials come over to the pro-Liberty side of the 2nd Amendment. But I don't.

I see your point on being cautious, my reaction was based on, and maybe you just misstated it, but it came across as you are not willing to fight it and will simply surrender your guns when/where told. If I took it wrong, my apologies.

The Bubbas and Fudds have sat on the sidelines ever since the discussion of firearms restrictions surfaced in the 20th century. When the government finally does come for their deer rifles I hope I am still alive so I can laugh at them and shout I told you so.

Not losing sleep? I sure am!

Anyone else feel similarly apathetic and resigned to losing a little more Liberty?

Not me. I am not only not apathetic, I am energized for the good fight. And it is a fight anyone who cares about the Second Amendment and any other part of the Bill of Rights needs to be involved in.

When it's all said and done, even if some form of unconstitutional gun control law is passed, I won't be saying to myself, "Gee, I wonder if my buddies and I had done more could we have stopped this thing?"

But I don't expect to be saying that because I firmly believe if we work hard enough, we can derail this gun control movement.

Let's get to work - you know what to do.

just my opinion but that's a dangerous attitude to have. There are plenty of things you can do. Starters join the NRA then start writing your local congressmen. More people felt the same way you did we could kiss all our 2a rights goodbye.

you said it,when my tax return comes in i will be a member of the NRA again, i stupidly let my membership lapse. their goal is to get them all!

If we dont come together and fight this, we will loose. Maybe not this year or the next but they will eventaully come for all guns....You would be a fool to think otherwise.

I am not apathetic toward any loss of liberty. The fact the government of this country has begun to dismantle our constitution and the likely Supreme Court appointments in the near future will be accomplices to that outcome scares the hell out of me. The idiots that are running this country did not campaign on a platform of gun legislation. They were hired to represent the people that put them in their elected position. They have no mandate to support additional gun legislation on a whim based on the emotional responses resulting from the false information they and the media perpetrate regarding gun violence. Anyone on this forum that has an actual interest in owning a firearm of any type would be foolish if they do not voice their opinion to their elected officials now.

Your politicians care only about staying in office. They will vote whichever the way the wind is blowing at the time no matter what the cost to us citizens. Still it does no harm to write,e-mail,etc. This country is in the shape that it is in now because we have been dumbed down for the last 30 years. That is why we have idiots trying to run this country and doing a most sorry job of it. JM2CW
