Odd Gun Store Combinations

In 1958 my Dad bought a Winchester 94 at a gun/furniture store in Mountain Home ID. He put $19.00 down and made payments till it was paid off. I have that rifle now. Original price was $74.00.

We have a jewelry storewho's owner is a class 3 dealer, I guess they are still there. Across the line in MD there is a gas station with a small shop in the rear. Man are they high.

My dad snapped this pic at the Arthur Murray gun shop and dance school.

I remember at a gun show one time getting a guy's card. Trimmer Tommy. Barber Shop/Machine Gun Dealer.

Another time I walked all around this little strip-mall a while, then finally walked into an architect's office. Lady says, "Can I help you?", and I say, "Yeah, I was told there was a gun shop around here somewhere, but I can't find it", and she says, "Oh, that's us."

Driving southwest on US 285 entering the town of Bailey, Colorado, you will find a small strip shopping center with a large sign on the roof "ALCOHOL TOBACCO AND FIREARMS". No, not a regional federal agency office, just a liquor store, a smoke shop, and a gun store.

Who is that huggin' on the Duke? It looks like Steve McQueen, kinda/sorta.

A very drunk Steve McQueen.

There is/was a beauty shop/gun shop combo in a town about 35 minutes from where I live. The only reason I knew about it is because they were arrested and made the news. Apparently the owner was the FFL, but her husband is a former felon and was "conducting" the gun business both there and at gun shows.

Joe Miller's in Corpus (yrs. ago) on Chaparell St. was a liquor store and gun store...and he sold cigars.
But Aransas Pass had the champion: the sign said "SHRIMP and GUNS"

I have to add: Shrimp and Guns worked like this, the shrimper who came in from two or three weeks at sea would bring in a half a basket or so to the store, trade for a gun and go lookin for for his old lady...and the shrimper who'd been in port for the last two weeks... It was rough country.
(the guns never changed, just the owners)

There's a place along the route I take between VA and NC that advertises fire extinguisher servicing and guns. Kind of an odd combination, but I guess that you could say they're both things that are good to have even if you hope you never need to use them!

My favorite here in NW NJ is a combination heavy truck repair and gun store. Best prices bar non.

Not guns, but we had a store out here that sold ferns and car batteries. But my favorite is in Sonora, Ca. called The Sportsman. The gun counter is in the back, and down the entire left side is a long counter with stools where they sold beer and wine. ammo was/is behind that bar on shelves by the beer refrigerator. How politically incorrect is that? You could read gun magazines while drinking beer. Interesting, I noticed the ammo was stuff like 25-35, .32 Special, 30-40 Krag, etc. mostly. showing those old guns were still used a lot in the surrounding hills. The rest of the place were knives and touristy stuff. I love this place.

I know a place not far from where I work that has a large mental health counseling center. The owner has his FFL and manages his business selling at gun shows from there. The delivery drivers bring boxes of merchandise right through the waiting room to the lock down area.

Kinda sounds like crew change day in Delcambre. :D

We have a store down here that is new boat dealer, bait and tackle and gun store.

I always thought the ideal store would be a gun store and hot dog stand. If you came in for a gun you just might at least buy a hotdog and if you came in for a hotdog you just might go home with a new gun too. :D :D

Sir, where in Western Ma was the dry cleaner/Gunshop. Must have been before my time but I'd love to ask my dad if he shopped there.

It was somewhere North of Pittsfield
Along either Rte 7 or 8

It's been so long I don't remember
and my record-keeping was "poor"
