I love this thing

But I am wondering how accurate it really is at 50 yards or 100 yards.
I noticed on the ammo box the .22LR has a drop of 5.6" at 100yards so at 50Yards would it be half that?

I have a Sure Shot reflex shot red dot on it. I noticed a few pics with it seems to be a small scope and a red dot?
Like this?

Our Local In door range goes up to 25 yards. I know if i really want to get into range shooting over that I can just get a larger rifle.

I was thinking about getting another one and just adding a scope to it.

Or

Am i able to do the same thing with this one? Do some short shooting 15-25 yards and 50yards with the same rifle?
I bought this to just have fun with. but I think i am liking it to much. lol

I am also thinking about getting another one for my 7year old soon to be 8 next month. I am going to see how he does with this one or maybe get him a 10/22 not 100% sure.

any inputs would be great, thanks

My oldest is 8 and it is the first rifle he has shot. I think it is perfect. Minimal recoil, not to loud, not to heavy and inexpensive for learning with. As far as trajectory, the flight path of the round is elliptical so I think it hits a bit high at fifty yards. The below link is from another thread posted by OneUp on 22lr trajectory. scroll down and click on his link to view the numbers.

Enjoy

What are the odds...

By sheer coincidence, I had just downloaded a trajectory calculator from Federal Premium's website when I saw this thread. Here's the link...

Federal Premium - Downloadable Ballistics Application

You can adjust variables (wind, sea level, zero range, etc) and compare different types of rimfire ammo. Great application for those of us who want to shoot longer ranges than 25 yards!

Hey friend the pic you posted shows an eotech setup... easily over a grand... if you want to have the best of both worlds cheap id suggest what I done... mount a ncstar mkIII tactical rubber armored 3-9x42mm with built in laser site and qd for $125 and then add an 11 o'clock mount with a micro reflex for about 60 more... the setup mimics a ar15 race gun ... you use your scope as normal and roll the the gun toward you a few degrees to use the reflex and then you have the laser for good measure:D

Yeha i just posted a pic of it to show what i was talking about
Could you post a pic of your setup?

Look up in the classifieds at the top of the 15-22 page and look at my post there is a pic of a couple toys of mine there

I share my 15-22 with my 8 year old son and he loves it. He got to hold this and the 10/22 before I bought one and this was his preferrence. The only issue it the mag sticking out, but he does fine with it. If he didn't go through it so quick I'd get some of the 10 shot mags, but that would just mean I'd need more. He goes through 200-300 rounds every couple of weeks, sometimes more. He likes it better than every other firearm he's shot. I may get another just so we can have a pair. I'm sure your son will love it too. invest in another and you can always put on or take off the scope at will.

You are thinking WAY too much into this. You can hit a 25 yard target with any rifle caliber, a pistol, sling shot, throwing rocks, darts..... Why would you put $1000 worth of junk on a $400 rifle when shooting at 25 yards is your concern? 15 yards to 50 yards with the same rifle? Of course! Stop thinking about lasers and Eotechs and cool-guy gear, and learn the capabilities of your rifle first.

22LR is good to 100 yards with anything from iron sights on up. 100 yards is not long range and any decent 22 rifle is capable at 100.

Another thing, you don't need a ballistic calculator to hit targets from 25 to 100 yards. Calculating elevation above sea level, bullet drop etc for 22LR? Zero your rifle at the range you want to shoot at and SHOOT.

thanks for the input. I understand I am able to hit targets at 100 yards i was hitting them at around 80 last weekend. I got some cheap ideas I am going to look into after reading a lot of threads
On this site. Talking my son out this weekend to try it out

What if I have a 200 yard shot at 3000 ft above sea level with a 30 mph crosswind and only 1 round left. Can I use a ballistic calculator then? :)

Haha crosswind like that would take your bullet to China.

I think licking your finger and holding it to the wind should be sufficient way of calculating the wind :p

I've seen that pic on the [Advertising of other Forums is not permitted] forum. My AR is almost identical minus the aimpoint magnifier. I'm planning on getting an Eotech for my 15-22 pistol also but probably a used one tho I don't want to fork out another 500 especially for a .22lr lol
