I agree with ship date 1968-1969.

We would love to see a photo of a parkerized Highway Patrolman!!!

Great revolver, Gary we hope to hear more from you about how it shoots.

I can't do pictures . I'm a moron . I'll try and get with my neighbor and get some pictures . I don't know when I'm going to have time to shoot it . My kid wants me to stay home from work tomorrow to go shooting .
There is no school tomorrow . I may do that .
Now I'm looking for some target stocks for it .
I don't like the Hogue grips .

sounds like you got a good deal.
if your going to just shoot .38's out of it then a nice set of stock wood grips would look great, but if your planning on shooting any .357 mag loads out of it I would hang on to the hogue grips.

In my area of the country, a 28 in good shape will sell for what you paid. If I saw a nice tight 28 for that price, I'd buy it, especially with a 4" barrel. I have a extremely nice 6" 28 that I've had since 2000. It rides on my hip in a Tom Threepersons basket-weave holster by El Paso Saddlery. It is one of my favorite revolvers, ranking equal to my 625-2 (great gun!). I have Hogue grips on the 625 and factory S&W target grips on the 28. I like them both. With heavy magnum loads, the 28 bucks a little. If one is firing many many rounds of such loads, the Hogue or Pachmayr rubber grips will be more comfortable. For just plain outstanding good looks, I'm looking to buy a something nice from Executioner Grips. If you are able to work things out, it would be nice to be able to see pictures of your new pistol. Sincerely. brucev.

I am now looking at the " Attached Thumbnails " and I can see my 28 just like my daughter took it .
I hope the photo stays there this time .
And I hope everyone likes it .

And now it is showing up in boath places Go figure .

I can see it.. the parkerizing looks good--ever thought of ahrends grips?--I ordered some today for my 28-2.. there'll be some pictures up in a week or so..

I just looked at what was on the S&W sight . I'm looking for some target stocks for it , and the S&W sight had some dark wood stock's I think would look good on it .

parkerizing

The finish you have on your S&W, I believe, is not parkerized. Someone came up with a non-rusting finish for blued guns in the 80's (the name of which I no longer remember) similar to an epoxy or hard surface which was supposedly superior to any finish than available. I've seen the same finish on a S&W Mod 19-2 w/2 1/2" pinned bbl. What was unique with this particular revolver was a blued 4" bbl he could change to when shooting it in matches. Nice looking.
