Possible Bodyguard 2.0 Problem

So at the range wit my BG 2.0. I have in excess of 700 to 800 rounds with any failures.

Starting with an empty mag I loaded 5 rounds (Range has a 6 round limit in handguns). Inserted the mag with a locked back slide and released by pulling back on slide and releasing. Pulled trigger and CLICK . Ok misfire waited a while with gun pointed down range .

Dropped the mag and ejected the round expecting to see a light strike or maybe bad round. But nothing on the primer. What the heck.

Reloaded the round and fired around next 50 without any problems. Then same as above first round from a mag CLICK no dent in primer? Fired 25 more , all I had with me. All fired.

Well since this is my summer carry all confidence is gone. Any Thoughts? Since it is the first round maybe not going fully into battery? I do have a Galloway OEM recoil spring installed. At least a couple hundred shots with it installed . Anything else to check? I would hate have to send it in especially if they can't duplicate it.

Till I can get back to the range and put a lot more rounds through it back to Glock 43.

Just to follow up a little. At home I disassembled and cleaned . Don't see any visible problems. I am going to put the original recoil spring assembly in and try again. By the way the gun was clean when the problem happened

I have no idea what is actually causing your malfunction, but my wild guess is the firing pin channel is carboned up with ammo residue and it’s not moving every time.

I’m probably in the “anal” minority class when it comes to care and maintenance for my firearms.

I clean, inspect and lube after every use. That can be a little time consuming, because I typically take 4 firearms with me to the range. Range days are once or twice a month. Some days I shoot more of my range buddy’s hole-punchers than I do my own. It’s fun to fondle and experience a new firearm. In the past 5 years I’ve shot over 50 different firearms.

I have noticed with all of my striker pistols the extractor hook and firing pin port area gets very carboned up with ammo residue. After about 100 rounds I cleaned the firing pin channel. Because I will not remove the rear sight and the slide cover plate to get to the firing pin, I soaked the firing pin spring area with Hoppe’s #9 Foaming Bore Cleaner. I blew it out with compressed air and noticed lots of gritty residue. It was so gritty the firing pin safety stuck down when I pushed it. I then dropped Bore Tech Cu+2 Copper Remover into the firing pin port and on the firing pin spring channel. I blew it out with compressed air and on clean tissue I noticed lots of black gritty residue. The amount of black residue coming out of that small area was surprising. I did it one more time and with my finger moved the firing pin in and out by compressing the spring. I noticed it was now smooth feeling. I put a small drop of Clenzoil on the extractor hook and bar on the slide.

So far I have had zero issues with 9 different 380 ammo. My barrel feed ramp has been polished.

I'll bet the slide wasn't completly closed and the disconnector kept the gun from firing. It only takes a couple of thousandths to do this. Two suggestions: First, make sure you slingshot the slide by letting completly go and not ride it down while letting the slide go. Second, take the barrel out and do a "plunk test" on the ammo you're using, to make sure it drops completly into the chamber. Mine came perfect but a friend's had a tight chamber, which I polished out for him and it now runs perfectly.

Galloway worked fine in mine, can see how the RSA would impact that unless it wasn’t returning to battery.

Certainly revert to original spring, clean retest.

Yea the Galloway has been fine for a couple hundred rounds. I will try to compare the original to the Galloway as sone as I restock some ammo.

As to the tight chamber I think it would have showed up by now but will check. I started with a half full box so the first 25 worked fine last time. Since it is the first round out of the mag I suppose I could have rode the slide a little. Never an issue before but at 67 losing some hand strengh
