Private Security Officer Asks For Your Permit How Do You Handle It

Read it again. The GF already ratted the guy and probley in front of the guard and him. Whatever scene had happened had been enough to already call the police. There was a event coming and both the guard and armed man knew it. Both thought and did exactly as I have and done on both sides of the situation. They obvisely done just right and it was a non event. Anything done other than both did would have had the potential of exploding into a real event.
In my story of the hit and run driver, had the fool just stopped and not ran, even though he was drunk or at least had a few, I would have worked with him, got the insurance info I needed and not even have called the cops on him. Again, if HE would have had the "right demeaner" that I wrote of, it would have also been a non event and he would have avoided a lot of costly trouble. More people get arrested for stupidity than anything else.

The bottom line is this, it is nobodies business if I am armed. If I am minding my own business which includes arguing with my wife, all they can do is tell us to take it elsewhere.

I don't condone nor do I put up with people that exceed or abuse the authority they think they have.

This applies to anyone other than a police officer.

Since the security officer only has the authority to tresspass someone and only then with a police officer present I would decline his request and go about my merry way.

Hopefully the security officer would attempt to hinder my progress and I could then sue for false arrest, which is allowed here in Florida.

Reckon thats why that fellow got the boot. Didn't understand, or didn't want to comply with the rules of the assignment.

I said dismissed and I think that may have been the wrong word the officer was removed from that site because he violated company policy by handling the male’s firearm.

He was later terminated from the company for carrying an unauthorized weapon on a different site.

I’ve already said that if I were the male I would have simply denied I had a firearm and avoided the whole issue. If I waited for the cops of course I would have been honest when they asked my and produced my permit and ID. If they asked why I lied to the guard I would have pointed out that he had no legal standing to ask for my permit or if I was armed and certainly none to detain or disarm me.

Having worked that site as security I can also tell you that short of actually seeing an assault I stayed out of people’s business. My job was to make sure that no cars were broken into and no bodies got left on site not to be a relationship counselor

Think about this one. Hard! Odds are it was husband and wife. We already heard they were arguing and or fighting. We have been told it was bad enough the police were already called and on their way. Since we are told over half the marrages end up in divorice, the odds are better than good this couple is headed for divorice. Lets carry it farther. Now the guy is macho and he aint going to let some pencil neck watchman have his gun, no sir! I know my rights, peon! Again, either the cops come to the rescue while this is going on or they will soon be pulling him over and quite possibly it could be at gunpoint with the info they now have. Okay, whats that going to do to his ego? I am just starting here. Lets say she wants a divorice. With that incident on paper and if she is vindictive whats the odds of her getting a restraining order and he can no longer have guns? Think I am kidding? My ex got a restraining order to keep me from attending gun shows in the state of california while our divorce was pending! But thats another long story. The man was level headed enough to stay out of possible trouble. Many here arent.

What if the man was superman, the guard was lex luther, and the female could have been wonder woman............ The "what if" game can get stupid pretty quick.

Every single variable changes the outcome. Past history does guarantee future outcomes. Educated guesses are still guesses. Repeat that scenario, and it would likely have a different outcome every time.

We can only say what we think we would do in that situation. Depending on the other people involved, we will all change our responses. If the security guy looks like Barney Fife, he probably gets blown off. Insert Chuck Norris as the guard, and he gets treated differently.

And why the heck would Superman need a gun

Ah, but remember what somebody pointed out here recently: bullets bounced off Superman, but when a bad guy had emptied his handgun and threw it at him, the Man of Steel would duck.

My question would be different. How the hell could Superman carry concealed in that outfit? :D

Hey, I didn't start this thread drift!

Two months ago I had a close friend from california where we used to live stop and see us. He once was a guard with me and is a vietnam vet that seen action. This guy had no record. He can no longer own any guns!
He had a drunk girl friend come to his house just to give him trouble in her drunken stupor. She insulted him with something almost no man would take. Told him he probley was messing with his own daughter! I had met his GF years ago and knew how she was. Sober, I thought she was okay but I also seen her drunk and was told by others that had seen her drunk how insane she could get. I warned my friend about her. He had to find out for himself. He did. She came over, tore into him with that tirade, he threw he out of the house, picked up her heavy purse and threw it at her as she was leaving. There was a vodka bottle in the purse and it busted her nose or whatever. She called the cops, pressed charges and he got anger managment. He was told he can no loner own guns, had to sell his guns!! He has tried to fight that and told me after seeing lawyers, writing letters etc he is SOL on that!
The point here again, is in my opinion that man that gave his gun up to the guard to hold did the wise thing especialy with a drunk argumentive GF or wife involved. He was sitting on a potential powder keg and I am sure knew it with her! Frankly, I have done that, been there in similar situations on both sides of that story with over 35 years experiance at it
I cant belive most of you cops and ex cops dont know exactly what I am talking about.

He threw a purse, with a bottle inside, hard enough to break a ladies nose? That was his mistake. That is assault. Remove that and the whole story changes.

The concealed carrier in the OP did not break any laws. He was not required to say or do anything for the gaurd other than leave if requested.

Would he have been stopped by the police on the way home if he had left? Maybe.

That's a risk I would be willing to take, as a law abiding citizen. I would explain that my drunk friend was being mouthy, and the gaurd was a nosy *** that would be getting a call from his boss after I was done reaming them in the morning.

Could it go badly for me? Sure. Once again, a risk I'm willing to take. A guaranteed meeting with the police in the parking garage, and a drunk compabion, with a stranger handling my weapon could turn sour just as easily.

Life is a series of choices.... you make yours, and I'll make mine.

BTW, superman uses a small of the back holster. His cape covers it.

1) Avoid arguing in public. It attracts attention.

2) Avoid being with people who have been drinking, they attract attention. (but, I do not drink, and do not associate with folks who do, so this may be harder to achieve than it seems to me)

3) Tell the guard to go pound sand
