I fell in love with this model of 1911 as soon as I first laid hands on it. I put a standing order in with my local dealer, and put one on layaway as soon as it came into the shop. I paid it off, got it home, and noticed something odd (to me, at least)...it has standard three dot sights. Everything I've read said these were supposed to come with tritium night sights, and every one I've picked up other than this one has had them. It's so common that I took it for granted that this one had night sights, and didn't even notice it while I was going over it in the store, upon the first cursory examination of it. It's the scandium framed Commander size bobtail E-series 1911...did some of them come with standard sights, or should I contact Smith & Wesson about this oversight? (Yeah, pun intended...)

I would contact S&W. A quick look at the website and they are advertised with night sights. Mine has them so I can only guess why yours escaped without them. Let us know what they say.

Okay, here's some pics (I think). They don't show much, but hopefully people can see from the pics what I'm talking about.

They show that it don't have night sights. This is the only one I have seen. What is the SKU number on your box? It had to be a special or messed up order from smith and wesson. Thanks for the pics. The SKU number will tell what options are on it. Best of luck.

i think i have seen a few with and without night sights.

Personally for me i decided to move up to the performance center version which really isn't that much more.

You should be able to get the sc with out night sights for around $900. I would buy one if I ever see one with-out the night sights. I love my pd and the only thing I would change if I could would be the larger extractor.

Well, it cost me around $1300, so I hope the dealer didn't switch them. The SKU is 151330, but I don't know how to translate it.:(

That's interesting. I'll definitely do that. I've already emailed them, but I'll call them first thing Monday morning. I'm sure they'll make it right. I guess I'll be sending my new toy back to the factory. I might look into having them spiff it up a bit, while it's there. No sense in having it so close to the performance center, and not having them do a trigger job on it, or something. :D

That's the best thing to do. I got mine about 2 years ago so and it has night sights front post has fine print on it

In what appears to be an epic level of lame move, despite the advertisement of this SKU having night sights (or, rather, the ambiguous mention of both standard and tritium sights on the above referenced link to Lipsey's), according to Smith & Wesson's customer service, the SKU 151330 run was built with only standard three dot sights. Drag.

If that is the case Reangelis the dealer over charged you. I would see if he could get you one with night sights or give you back $300 for it not having night sights. Because $1300 is full retail for one with night sights. Best of luck.

sku# 151330

While tritium night sights could be called dot sights, dot sights can't be called tritium night sights. It would seem to me, since the product description states tritium night sights, then it should have tritium "dot" night sights installed, especially for that price, $1317 (sku# 108485 has night sights for $1369). Are they saying the Lipsey's catalog description is wrong? Wonder what Lipsey says since it seems like it may be a special distributor item?
