R.I.P. Bob Newhart

Steven Wright too. Frank Gorshin did a fantastic Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas among others. I know he was an impressionist but he made me laugh pretty good. You know all these comedians we mentioned all used no foul language or politics in their acts. Except Carlin
who was very funny but got pretty mean in his older years.

Bob Newhart and Tim Conway. The best of the best. Two immensely creative and funny men that make me hurt from laughing.

Big difference. Bob Newhart was funny. Tim Conway was silly.

The comic that really made me laugh, more than any other was Jerry Clower. As a kid in DFW they’d play clips of him on the radio periodically.

After moving to the Pacific Northwest I bought his cassette tapes to enjoy. When I went back to the Academy for some advanced training I played those tapes for my roommate, who had never heard of Jerry Clower. I transferred a couple years later but every time our paths crossed, he’d ask me on the car-to-car, “Have you seen Marcel?”.

Who doesn’t love good, clean humor? R.I.P. Jerry Clower

Although not standup, I also found “Roy D. Mercer” funny, a couple DJ’s out of Tulsa, OK. Man do I like Southern humor.
