Random Object Photographs

This little squirrel was too lazy to walk to the birdbaths at the back of the yard for a drink. So he used the dogs' water bucket (they were napping inside).

Here are a couple of shots taken over the Christmas season. This first one is an art object made by a New Mexican woman who is over 80 years old. It utilizes bed springs, assorted bottles, and stained glass fragments. I thought it was quite innovative.

These are the rugged Organ Mountains in New Mexico, near Las Cruces. My maternal grandfather once prospected in these mountains around the turn of the 20th Century.

Night Heron, AKA Grosbeck in Cajun French, around here they are very common and years ago the "young ones" were often on the dinner table.
The picture is an interesting posture, I have never seen one do that before, "Flashing" is a good title!

Yep, yellow crowned night heron. They always look grumpy to me. We also get some of the black crowned night herons but they are only about 5% of the numbers of yellow crowns we see. I have another picture of that posture somewhere in one of my folders. Both were taken at Brazos Bend State Park about 20 miles from our place.

I know this thread is supposed to be random photos we've taken, but I'm looking through my husband's grandfather's old photos, and he has some nice random shots from 1950-1951 I thought to share here.
