A Fordson tractor not to far from my house, it's gone now since someone else bought the property.

I see a fish, though, to my knowledge, I have no native American blood. My grandpa who traveled extensively thru the country in his sales days and met and spoke to many native Americans in his travels, shared a secret with me when I told him a secret of mine. I used to watch westerns in the 50's and said Grandpa, when I watch them I sleep and dream of being an Indian. I understand their lives more than the cowboys. I never remember dreams where I wasn't an Indian. He said he spoke to a native American about dreams once, and was told that if you dream about them, you were one in a previous life time...I wonder.....
You can perceive a fish of some sort in this photograph. If you shift your point of view so that the line that forms the bottom of the bird's beak and throat becomes the mouth of a fish, you'll see it.

An elder on the Sisseton-Wahpeton Reservation in northeastern South Dakota put it like this: "The Lakotah are an eagle people, so they will see a winged. We (the Dakotah) are a fish people, so we see a fish."

I hear ya Redbert, I always liked being the Indian when playing cowboys and Indians. Once, as a cub scout project, we made Indian gear. Leather fringed shirts, leggings, etc. I loved my outfit.

This was in Munich in the late ‘50s. Our cub scout master was an impressive speciman of a man, lean and mean, an army sergeant who was a mix of black and Native American. He looked ferocious in his get up, and knew cool Indian dances, woodlore and stuff.

We all wanted to be like him.

So, one day I am sitting in my treehouse, more of a tree platform I guess, in my yard, overlooking one of the streets, with my sister. We are both wearing our Indian gear get up. (How she horned in on this manly cub scout activity I have no idea. Maybe ‘cause mom was my den mother.) I am fully armed, with a coupla BB guns, assorted knives and a hatchet.

A car suddenly stops below us. A bunch of German adults starts looking at us, pointing, laughing and such. I give ‘em my best Indian stare of death.

They laugh and drive off.

They were lucky we didn’t have that cub scout master with us!

Just got this one this Saturday (May 26) evening as the sun was setting. There's an area with these little tiny burrowing owls that I enjoy photographing from time to time. Had never been able to get one on the sign before!

Nice shot...in photography, like so many other things in life, timing is everything. Right place at the right time gets it done.

Thank you Walkin' Jack! You're right about the right place/right time. My patience has improved a lot since I started getting serious about my photography due to waiting/hoping for that right time. I just wish I hit that combo more often! ;)
