These are the rugged Organ Mountains in southern New Mexico. They constitute the southernmost stretch of the Rocky Mountains.

My maternal grandfather once prospected in them around the turn of the 20th Century.

I took this picture at the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. I was the guardian for an Honor Flight WWII veteran there in 2014. He has since deceased; a special man from the "greatest generation." This memorial is simple; it's just a statue of a resolute sailor with his sea bag at his feet, ready to do his duty.

My grandson, Ian, won two first place ribbons Saturday at the Hamilton County 4H fair.

Here is André the Flemish Giant. A breeder paid Ian $275.00 for it. The boy is now a capitalist.

This is his Holland Lops. Cute, huh?

That is one my delightful better half told me I had to like for her but she is a Ellie May Clampett type of "critter person", but then she has the delimina...pet and play with them or cook and eat 'em. :)

Mt. St. Helens and Spirit Lake

I visit the crater every year. Normally I go to Johnston Ridge, which is about three hours from here, and go hiking and fishing somewhere in the vicinity.

Yesterday I went to Windy Ridge, which is on the far side of the park, and saw the crater from a different angle. This was as close to the crater that I've been so far. I also got photos of Spirit Lake. The amount of timber floating in the lake was incredible!

To the east was Mt. Adams. It's a dormant (not extinct) volcano that's 12,280 feet high.
