My Old Neighborhood

I lived not far from here in the fifties and early sixties. Didn't have the fancy light poles then, or the pretty little trees. It was all asphalt, dirty concrete, scrub grass, and trains. I'll say I did love the trains, though.

There's another railroad overpass just like this one just four blocks north of this one. Big tractor-trailers still get stuck under them because their drivers didn't read the clearance signs. The clearance is only 13'8".

Liquor stores and pool halls, along with a long-gone flop house were just on the other side of this overpass.
