I probably had more fun in my 1962 Beetle than the others.
I bought it late my Sr year in HS. That was my '62 Galaxie too.
I've had a handful of cars over the years too.
In my younger days I was really hard on them.
At this point it was pretty close to the end of its life.
I had this '62 a 63, 64, 65 and a 61 bus.
Not too long after my 62 Galaxie was at about the end of its life too.
This was 1974. I was working in a Texaco service station.
We still had one full service island and we still washed all your windows, checked you oil and tire pressure.
The owner loved doing that while I spent most of my time in the service bays.
That was my first job working as a mechanic, at 19 years old.
It took me an hour to talk my boss into letting me replace a camshaft with a couple of flat lobes in a customers 1967 Impala with a 396.
He just thought I was too young to do that kind of engine work.
And my '57 Fairlane only lasted three weeks.
The fastest car I had was this 1969 Camaro with a very healthy 427. It wasn't pretty but it ran really nice.
While my 69 Camaro was my Friday night State Street car I also had this 1970 Torino GT.
It came with the 300 hp 351C that I built up using mostly 351 CJ internals and Shelby externals.
Now I drive a old geezer's car.
Yep, its a slow afternoon.
