Not sure whether the clouds are going to roll in tomorrow evening and block sight of the Great Conjunction of 2020 between Jupiter and Saturn. So I grabbed my spotting scope and took a look tonight. On max magnification you get good views of Saturn's rings and can just barely make out some of the striations on Jupiter. The 4 main moons of Jupiter are quite visible as well. While I had it set up I hand held my Samsung phone and tried to see if I could get any kind of picture through the eyepiece. I was surprised that it turned out good enough to see the moons of Jupiter and shows how close the two planets appear to be. If you have a spotting scope and clear skies tomorrow head out to take a look. Here in SE Texas it is in view to the southwest for a couple hours starting just past sunset.

ETA:

Got in a look tonight at the closest point, so I can say I saw it at it's best. Saturn was at about 2:30 to the right of Jupiter tonight and one of the moons had gone behind Jupiter so there was only 3 visible. Would have been nice to get a good picture but this has been a great sky watching moment for me.

Easy to see why they call this family of trees red oaks.

Down at the Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge, It's not unusual to see Bald Eagles.
They are usually perched in dead or dormant trees.
This Scruffy looking guy was on the ground and I didn't see him actually doing anything.

I saw a black coyote once, out in a field. He was in the same place the next day too. A decoy, to keep geese out of the field. Funny.
